NEO Scavenger in its First Bundle!

Hey Folks!

NEO Scavenger's available in its first bundle, Be Mine 5!

If you've been considering buying NEO Scavenger, but weren't sure, this may be the ticket you're looking for. Here's how it works:

  • Spend at least $1, and you get NEO Scavenger, Kings Bounty: The Legend, and X-Blades.
  • Spend at least $5, and additionally get Tropico 3, Stranger's Wrath HD, and 3 graphic novels.
  • 5 indie albums are included, and will be announced tomorrow.
  • Unlock more goals when certain sales milestones are reached.

Plus, 20% of all proceeds go to MercyCorps, which uses it to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities. Programs that do things like:

  • provide clean water
  • provide sustainable sources of food
  • combat infectious diseases
  • aid in disaster and conflict recovery
  • build communities safe from oppression and conflict

Sound familiar? As players of NEO Scavenger, you're probably keenly aware at how tenuous life can be without things like clean water, food, medicine, and protection from man and nature. I thought it was cool that some proceeds from this promotion are going to an organization that tries to ensure real people don't have to suffer without these things.

And who knows? Maybe some player somewhere will be inspired to learn more about these issues, and even act on it. I'd be thrilled to have helped spur that kind of social good.

So give it a look! Spread the word! If you know someone who might enjoy anything in the bundle, let them know! You can even gift them a bundle.

And definitely check out MercyCorps to see what they're up to. The pre-apocalyptic world can always use a helping hand :)

Although the MercyCorps aid probably weren't your reason for making the game, I simply love how the game gives the players personal experience with real life problems that MercyCorps is trying to help with. Such a great and interactive way to make people aware of these problems. :)

That's what I was thinking too. The game was definitely more of a selfish endeavor (I wanted my own personal post-apoc world to play in), but when I saw the charity Groupees chose, I was like "hey, that's pretty cool! Maybe that charity will resonate with players!"

Hopefully, good things come of the pairing!

I got NEO Scavenger through the bundle and was assuming it will be updated through Groupes over time, as well. I suppose this is what you were referring to when you mentioned in your blog about the Desura account linking. If one buys through this bundle, they will not be able to play through the web player version as it stands, correct? I'm happy because I prefer the standalone version, for one, but also...the account profiles on this site need to have privacy options switched on. It always shows you logged in when you are here, and for a game which links online like that...someone could get a divorce with this game. Just saying... :)

Thanks for the opportunity and the amazing game!

The Groupees bundle comes with a Desura key for NEO Scavenger, which gets updated download versions over time (I usually upload new versions to both Desura and this site on the same day, though Desura has a validation period which can delay releases a bit).

However, you are correct that there is not yet a way for Desura (and therefore, Groupees bundle) owners to play the web version. I am looking into that, though, as it would be nice for players to choose what works best whenever they want.

As for the profile privacy, what do you mean? Where does it show someone is logged in, and who? We certainly don't need to lose anyone to marital strife!

Thanks, I was wondering what the key was for! I'll track her down that way for now. Regarding the privacy thing, I was referring to the actual forums here. Under your avatar icon, it displays your online status and there is no way to turn that off that I can see...as there isn't an option for it in your forum account profile. Just a heads up on that, but with online games especially, that one needs to be addressed I think. Anyway, thanks for the game and the info and I look forward to the next update!

A ha, now I see what you're saying. As it turns out, that's an easy feature to turn off, so I went ahead and did it. I can't think of many reasons why someone would need to know if another site member is online, particularly if they can PM each other.

Thanks for the heads up!
