How to use traps??

Hi!

I'm able to craft some traps, but I'm not exactly sure how to use them. Where/how I place them to capture animals??

also, there's some really difficult recipes to get by, so guessing is tedious. It would be cool if we had a "recipes" thread.

I already have a couple of skirrel pelts, I'm trying to craft something with it, I already tossed all items in the crafting area to no avail haha! HELP!
