A question about feral dogs

I'm not sure if this is a bug but I decided to settle down at the cup lab at the beginning of the game and then as time progressed absolute hordes of feral digs started forming in the area thankfully I was well equipped but still is this a bug or is it just the area? Because it's quite annoying

P.S. I dominated everyone of those dogs and they never put a paw on me.

The starting area always has hordes of dogs. No bug there, but I get what you mean. Too many darn dogs.

I think it's intended. The game tries to make you leave the area, go to DMC or wherever you want to go. I thinks it's something along the lines of "the wildlife and the roaming people have by now recognised that someone lives in the old cryo lab and try their best to get him".

Aaaand I'm not sure but I think its coded.

Btw: congrats on surviving, I tried to hole up in the cryo lab once and after a few days or about two weeks I was reckless and went out too far, so when I came back I was exhausted and actually needed rest, but had a pack of dogmen on my heels that shred me to pieces as soon as they got to the lab...

EDIT: I actually find feral dogs not annoying but useful. If they come in small packs (max 3), you can dispatch them pretty easy, killing at least one of them, thus getting a steady supply of meat and fur. Although I have to admit, I never use all the meat, it spoils much to fast, even with treating meat with ashes (through Trapping, I think).

Yeah, I wish there was a better way to preserve meat.

Hm, coming to think of it, Kaaven or Chiko (or both?) made some cooking recipes for their respective mods. Maybe some meat based recipes would be nice? NSE also has implemented more vegetables, maybe some meat stew or pie recipes are the real deal?

Cooking is not a very good way of preserving stuff - depending on freshness of the original products, you can maybe "win" a day or two in the most cases.

For the most part, there are no real way of preserving food "on the go". People smoked, dried and salted meat for the long long time, but those methods really demand either very specific circumstances of nature or infrastructure. Or at the very least, decent ammounts of time. For hobo on the move, making meat last couple days more is as good as it gets. I am afraid.

Salt would be preferable. It would be like curing the meat, but for much longer. I don't know if anyone has modded salt in, but it would be very useful... With the side effect of making you thirsty, of course.

I was a bit unclear: I didn't want to suggest a new method for preserving meat, just making cooking it more efficiently. Maybe even meat based meals that give some conditions like "Eaten tasty meal" or something like that... A well spiced or marinated steak is always better than an unspiced one. And a meat stew is a treat as well. ;)

Thanks, now all I can think of is stew. Maybe take out should be an option at the Last Chance? I have no idea if this is a thing or not.

Your welcome! xD

Chiko put sugar and flour in Neo Scavenger Extended, but I don't remember any salt.

I prepared Explosive Runes this morning!

I planned on including salt in my mod, but never got around to actually adding it. Should probably do that, since it is indeed a rather big omission not to have salt at all. ;)
