Indiana/Ohio Map

So recently I got another brain bug telling me to think about this. I know that we can change the map, and I know we can remove and add plot to the NEO Scavenger story. The question here is, will anyone do this? Can we even overwrite this stuff in a mod folder?
I sure as heck don't have the know-how, I could try, but I would either fail, or not upload it...
I do honestly want to do this though, so I'm gonna try. I might need help on plot.

What I have so far:
Player wakes up in a hunting cabin, there's a large gash on his head that's had some time to heal, but still stings. The player can't remember much, just like Philip, but does remember one thing... He has to make it West.

Is this a good start? I know I could add in factions, but that would take a TON of time on my end... I'd love some feed back from anyone (really), about anything (not joking).
What should be in this sub-story?

Well... Not really possible. He could go East though - since the point zero is in the left, topmost corner of the map, it can be extended relatively easy to the East and South. And the rewriting of the beginning encounter could also be possible.

The real problem comes with everything else, actually. You would have to re-do basically every other encounter (unless you would be happy with the same ones). Plus, writing actual encounter content is so much work... As someone who did it, I can attest it is a hell lot of work.

But, if all you need is the extension of the map and a new start encounter, it is doable.

Shucks... Guess I should have expected that, given everything else about NS is janky as all hell. I thought for sure that plot areas could be removed entirely... Oh well. I have some time in a few days to get familiar with some of the NS plot/encounter/story stuff (probably not enough time), I'll see what I can get done in that time.
Extending downwards might be the best option... This is gonna be a VERY tall map...

Some encounters would be relatively easy to remove, but others might be quite hard. Like the random encounters - I don't think there is even a way to remove them completely.

And even if there is - it will be a lot of very complicated work.

The random encounters would be fine to keep in. In fact, if we only have to extend the map, then we could just keep all the other plot stuff in as well. By the way, I'm saying 'we' because I have absolutely no experience changing the map around.
I'm gonna snoop around in the NS files today, see if I can understand any of it.

Thanks Kaaven!
I'd love to get the opinions of others on this.

This is what I've gathered so far:
Dan likes the number three... so much, in fact, that the WHOLE DAMN HEX SYSTEM IS BASED ON THE NUMBER THREE.
I did some reading, and I'm gonna try putting it in a google sheet.

Wish me luck... and maybe so fours...

Number 3 signifies a randomly generated hex. Any other will be specified type.

Also, make sure you are playing around with the map ID 2, "MapMiniMichigan.png"
