Game crashing on rare occasions when I am selling tea

v1.05 4/14/2015

On a rare occasion (it has only happened 2 or 3 times thus far) my game is crashing when I am selling tea that I brewed myself. All sales in question have been happening at the ATN store, and all the product I have been selling (or trying to sell) has been emptied from a bottle inside of a vehicle I am using (I think it has always been a travois, but it is possible that I found a shopping cart one time)

I can protect myself by saving just before I enter the store, but because normally when playing I don't save at all due to permanent death, it has resulted in many hours lost.

My theory is that it happens right after I set up a tea brewing hex near the ATN, where I pile a bunch of twigs and water so that I can sit there and brew a ton of tea. These are always hexes where there is a source of water, preferably also a source of wood.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm trying to reproduce this issue on my side, but I'm having trouble.

So far, I've setup a brewing hex near the ATN and crafted/sold about 80 units of tannin tea, but no crashes yet. I'm selling them by emptying directly from the bottles inside my box cart using the context menu. I've tried crafting about half of them using the manual crafting ingredients, and the other half using the quick recipe method.

I'm not having much luck, though. Are there any other tricks you can think of? Do you usually use hotkeys or just the mouse? And do you recall if it happens the first day you start selling, or does it require midnight to pass so the shop empties?

The rare occasions when it has crashed, it was always on the 1st bottle I emptied out for that current batch of tea. The game would freeze as I was clicking the empty out command, and waiting for it to respond would give no results. If the 1st one worked fine I knew it was safe. Having said that I have not experienced the same problem sense my OP...

I have been trying to not fill my camps with extra water now, and just remove what I need from the water source. Before I was just dumping as much as I could fit into the camp so that I didn't have to keep clicking the gather resources command while brewing.

I do not use hot hot keys, just the mouse. I only used the recipe list when crafting. I do not recall for sure if the problem has happened on the 1st day I started selling, but I don't think it has. I think it was always on a day after they had restocked the store (or at I looked at it, making more space for me to sell tea)

There is one thing to note that I can think of though: Although I was using the recipe list to craft all my tea it would always seem to try to get me o brew my tea in a glass bottle rather then my metal pot, so I would always have to manually switch out the glass bottle for the pot. I doubt this has any effect whatsoever though because it seems to me that this would be more likely to have some effect while brewing, rather then when I attempt to sell the product.

I have yet to have this happen to me again so far so I have been unable to collect any new insights to the problem, but considering it hasn't happened to me again maybe there simply is no problem.

In any event thank you for looking into this for me, and if it happens again I'll be sure to update this thread with whatever I learn.

It's quite possible that the bug was unrelated to the tea, and just happened to trigger at the same time you were unloading tea. (E.g. it could be a bug in the way items empty from one container to another)

Do let me know if you notice it again, or remember any other clues that might help me to reproduce the issue.

Also, if you're not against the idea of using hotkeys, I think it'll speed up your crafting quite a bit. E.g. you can use the spacebar to both confirm crafting and clear the results, allowing you to anternate between clicking the recipe and pressing space. It should save you some mouse moving.

Alternately, you can fill your ingredients manually with piles of twig and lots of water, and just spam the spacebar to craft quickly. You can even use the quick recipe to pre-fill the ingredients, then manually add more water and twigs.

Just some tips in case you were finding it slow and tedious to click everything!

I'm in no rush, that's the joy of turn based combat. The ability to nip out for a snack or something before the dogman rips your heart out.

I did just have it happen the last time I played, I didn't try and replicate it, it's just that the tea business is booming. It happened to me on mobile at the DMC junk market, when I was using a sled full of bottles of tea and emptying them like Jack did. I got a black screen for a second and got booted out and couldn't reopen until I closed and reopened the app.
