More NPC interaction.

NPC's are boring, and I do think that you can extend your talk option with them, really. They could be people who want to trade, want to travel with you, or even, sounds pervy, start a relationship... actually, fuck that.

I know Dan wanted to do something, but I'm surprised there's no mod.

Most of that isn't really doable - there is no real way to make the trading happen (with the exception of this pre-scripted thing, like the looter who sells you the phone) or to make them follow and help you. Not even mentioning relationships and things of that nature.

What one can do, is to give them more dialog. But that is a lot of writing.

Can't we make use* of* the following mechanic that NPC's use? Like the DMC guards, they will follow their leader at all times during patrol.

edit: i can spell

Creatures will follow the member of the same faction with the highest morale around. So unless a NPC would be pre-set to belong to the same faction as player (not sure if it would even work), they would not follow him.

Plus, they follow one another only in very rough terms - nothing really stops them from wondering off, as soon as they loose sight of one another.

And there would be no way to tell them to do anything, they would do what they want...

Also, since the NPCs are meant to be encountered for the short time only, they are not really set to exist continuously - they don't eat or drink, so each "friend" you would get, even if you would somehow make him follow you, would eventually die of dehydration, right before your eyes. Or freeze, cause he does not scavenge and only picks up stuff from the ground.
