Why am I such a noob, how do I become not a noob

I've been playing the game going on 60 plus hours now and I can't seem to get to the Military Base mission without dying. Can someone give me tips/tricks on how to better survive?

"I guess running around in all black while wearing a dogman coat and clown mask beating people to death isn't exactly...suddle."

If you've told us how you usually do things we'd help you better. Cause you really don't want me writing an essay of all my different strategies for NEO. ;) What skills do you usually take, how do you usually die, tells us the dirty details. ;)

My two general go-to pieces of advice for players who die alot are:

1) Philip is NOT a badass. Learn how to back away from fights, play defense, fight ranged, be constantly vigilant, stay quiet and under the radar, be scared. ;) If you come across something that you (personally) wouldn't do, Philip probably would also like to avoid it - so proceed with caution! When something has a potential to kill you, it most likely will. XD

2) Don't try to make a base, pack light and move about alot. Staying in one spot is extremely rarely a good idea in this game.

Don't know if that helps though. So tell us more, chatting about viable strategies is better with examples.

Skills-Botany,Trapping,Melee,Medic,and Hacking.
Flaws-Metabolism,Insomniac.

I don't make bases except i'll find a good camp near D.M.C. to leave things at and stop in and rest at
when i'm i'm town.

I guess i'm being a little to Rambo about things so i'll try to take things slower.

I guess running around in all black with a dogman fur coat and clown mask with a crowbar chasing people down and beating them to death is a little to much...

Hehe, between those two pieces of advice, there's generally a 95% likelihood I'll hit the nail on the head with most players. ;)

So more specific tips: Try a few games where you ditch melee and/or trapping. Give ranged a go. It will force you to be more thoughtful about how you approach fights, and it will make fighting dogmen less profitable (no coats), and also force you to hide more, cover tracks more, stay out of melee distance more. Basically you'll feel less powerful, which will change the way you play the game all by itself. ;) It will also make the first two days far harder, but that's just a matter of a careful first day strategies, some luck and a couple of restarts in the worse case scenario. Afterwards you won't notice much of a difference, except that you will stop feeling like running after everyone around to kill them is a smart plan. ;)

Tip (if you try fighting ranged more, with or without the skill): the lowly sling is an absolutely brilliant und hugely underrated weapon. It's super easy to make early, ammo is everywhere, and it's fantastic for stunning opponents and scaring away puppies. Plus, it's so small you can slip it in your pocket and use it as a backup stungun even in late game.

I am suggesting making a base right on the hex in the Sprawl with Hatter as there are some very good buildings that can be used as campsites
