How to guarantee an encounter branch in the base game?

I'm trying to reach Radiation Bob in the Isotope Mine, but whenever I boot up my file and approach, I either don't get a chance to use my Melee skill (automatic leave) or find it locked with or without wounds for my trouble.

How can I game the system to let me in?

I figured it out. [PreConditions">-337] meant that my save didn't have the 337 condition. I made the EXTENDED branch [id 212 "Player Makes It to the Door"] have -337 and all other outcomes have 337.

There's a chance it'll not give the prompt to use any skill: [id 201 "Yell Out a Friendly Greeting"] and [id 202 "Try to Sneak In"] have a chance of branching to [id 211] -> [id 206 aka automatic leave] instead of [id 205 aka chance to meet Bob]. My recommendation is to pick [id 204 "Yell Out You're Armed and Dangerous"] so as to not leave much else to chance.
