No electrician, but more tension…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

I see. Eric's agreement/action worked, huh? I hope Alexander has no idea he was a cause of the pursuit.

Nemo, please indicate inRP if it's night-time (dark) proper. One of your recent posts contains "disappearing into the shadows" phraze. Is it still dusk? Or is it full moon with a clear sky? Or will you perhaps change this phraze to indicate complete darkness?

Also, please indicate somehow if/when we players can act on our own. Yours truly already has an idea how to locate at least one of those new NPCs.

Sorry, yes it's fully dark now.You may also all act on your own again, although for the moment I see no reason why the people sleeping or working should stop their current activities. When an alarm is sounded however…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Alright. But if it's complete darkness, then there can be no shadows you know. No light = no shadows. I know it's just a turn of phraze, but still, you know, not the best applicable for the circumstances i guess... I'd definitely use "into the darkness" in this case. Your call though.

And, for the record: on top of noise alarms, i guess there may be other sound awake person could react to - and Nails has lots of years of forest life in him, so he knows very well how animals sound, and how humans do. For a human, it's difficult to _walk_ in forest without cracking a piece of dry wood now and then. And i guess that if some folks are walking not-so-far from the group's camp, Nails would definitely hear them - being awake, - well before noise traps would be triggered.

Sorry, you're right, my mistake.. But as for the other things, the group of headhunters is where Eric deposited his bag, so I gathered that that was about twenty minutes away from the camp, and given that the group is walking in the wrong direction, Nails wouldn't be able to hear them… I assume that's reasonable?

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Yes. However, if those headhunters are not total rookies, then they most likely should do what's totally obvious in the "got the signal but not the target" situation: circle around, gradually making circles wider and wider. I was expecting any would-be-pursuers to do so from very moment i proposed to move Eric's backpack away, to be honest. I had this in mind when i planned for Nails to stake awake - however way possible, - till the dawn. He knows the group is possibly hunted, only natural for him to stay at/near camp and sniff/listen for enemies, i think.

By the way, knowing ooRP that moving Eric's backpack away won't be needed - doesn't cancel inRP reason to do it, i think. I'm quite surprised Cat didn't act on this, since for her, the rationale of "those devices could be implanted with a bug" - still stands, afaik. Still, "procedurally", it remains OK, since Nails was always putting "if" to his proposition. Good thing i had him putting those "if"s there! :)

You're slightly getting ahead of yourself- The head hunters are still in the vicinity and doing exactly what you propose, but it will take time, during which Ghoul does what he does best.

Also, I don't get your last point, you'll have to explain that to me… The actual device are hidden away, but the ones Cat believes to be the real ones are in the backpack which was hidden too, or did I miss that?

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

... the backpack which was hidden too ...

I missed this part inRP? >< If so - sorry! But my impression was, this action was proposed, but not performed, inRP...

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

oh shoot, I thought it was performed. My bad. Well, let's be glad for those if's then…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Well, there is Silent or even Rob, if they'd do it on their own as a part of past-talk time, i guess you won't object eh. Nails intentionally kept himself from doing it, inRP reason being, he knows backpack a fake-bait (others - do not!), and if he does move it away AND somehow enemies will go for it, then he could be suspect planting the beacon there, obviously. And ooRP knowledge this won't happen - doesn't change his RP none, ofc.

Yep, let's. Now it's two glad people instead of just one (me). Hooray! :)

I'm sorry for these minor slip ups, and I'm always really glad, when there's a way to justify them without somehow breaking the rules…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

The next post is going to be from TwistedWorld, starting to act his own character, I just introduced him…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Shall we have his toon briefly described here in ooRP, much like we all did on the 1st page of this topic? If it's a special case, then forget i asked, please. :)

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

It's up to TwistedWorld really. Totally fine in my books, but if they want to develop the character in some form that requires hiding parts then that's up for them to decide.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Name: "Ghoul" (Hangul: 염라왕, or simply "구울")
Age: 29

Character: Strong, Melee, Tough, Athletic, Trapping, Botany, Insomniac, Metabolism (Negative)

Description: Ghoul grew up in the apocalyptic area of Korea. He grew up in the outskirts of Seoul, Korea's capital city. Home to busy people and hard workers, and in the less glamorous parts of it, home to gangs, homeless, and prostitutes.
His father was from Michigan, traveling to Asia to practice martial arts, and visit the monks in the mountains. He after many years of practicing in martial arts and swordplay, settled in Korea, where he met his mother one day during his practice and they fell in love and made "Ghoul".

Little did his father know, Ghoul's mother was a notorious criminal with many enemies. One day during Ghoul's youth, a rival gang came to the home of Ghoul, kidnapped him, and burned his house down while his parents were inside. Forcing him to watch as their anguished screams echoed through the neighborhood.

Mentally traumatized by this, "Ghoul" has had frightening nightmares and has been "Unstable" since then.

He was taken in by his Father's Dojo and trained by the same master that had taught his father. When he reached the appropriate age, the old and wise master gave Ghoul his father's prized sword. A Katana forged in the mountains of Japan.

With this, Ghoul settled out and traveled across Korea. His first stop was at Daegu where he learned survival techniques with the ex-military.

He then traveled to the port of Busan and met with criminals that took a liking to his abilities. His life-long practice in martial arts and swordplay and unstable nature has turned him into a merciless killing machine when provoked. He easily found his ranks in smuggling and being mercenary/cleaner.
Although he didn't want to join them at first, the jobs they offered became more enticing and lucrative, and so he couldn't resist.

His job as a smuggler eventually brought him to Tokyo in Japan, where he remained as a criminal for the next two years.
During his long two years he seeked revenge for his parent's deaths, and tracked and killed the people who were responsible.

Rumors say that after he killed them, he dug out the corpses from the graves and ate them. Leaving their damned souls torn during their afterlife.

After his two years, he left the organization and traveled back to the relatively peaceful village where he had grew up in. He visited the Dojo once more, but they did not accept him because of his criminal ties. Ashamed by this, He had on final wish from his master. That wish was to point in the direction of where his remaining relatives may be. He told him to go to the DMC in Michigan.

With that, They both bode each other farewell.

With that, he returned to the port and sailed to America. With a hard 3 month journey, he reached the gates of the DMC wanting to visit his father's relatives. Alas, he needed a pass to get in.

After a few weeks working freelance as a mercenary, waiting for his pass to come through, he became recognized by a DMC captain for saving one of his men from a group of violent looters attacking a lonesome guard patrolling the area. The Captain offered him a lucrative deal: Find any high-class criminals, bring them to him, and he will give a DMC pass on the spot.

He met up with a group of people hunting down a man named "Silent". They explained they got a radio transmission and are needing people to help collect him. The man was little to no interest to him, but if the group he was traveling with has a high-class criminal, he could get his pass easily in this job.

With that, He stepped out into the wild. With black hiking boots firm on the ground, a duffle bag containing his personal belongings, the clothes on his back, and the black cloak around him, and finally his beloved sword, he set off for the next journey.

Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse

It's been a long time, but I'm back.

Geez. Scary guy! I'm confused about digging graves part, though. Am i getting it right? Did Ghoul
- 1) kill people responsible for his parents deaths
- 2) bury them into their graves
- 3) then dig them back out of their graves some time later
- 4) and then eat them?

If so, then i am most curious why did he bury them in the 1st place - and for how long. Does it have something to do with this asian delicacy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Century_egg ?

Please note: no humor involved in my question. I am genuinely interested in how it was meant to be.

I just love your attention to detail…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

No, it's not related. I wanted it to be like the undertakers buried them (Or what was left) and he tracked them down and ate whatever was left

(That's how the rumors go)

If you want info on fermenting food, we have a food called Kimchi which is like cabbage mixed with a whole bunch of ingredients (Including lots of hot peppers) and fermented in the ground and pulled out in the winter.

Kinda like a fermented cabbage-pickle that's spicy!

Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse

It's been a long time, but I'm back.

I love kimchi…

On a completely other note, should I script the hunter party encounter now, or should I wait for some more action from you, TwistedWorld?

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Kimchi i...

Yes, you should script it now, make some interaction, and in the background I will converse with Silent.

We could post kind of on top of each other E.G. You post the script for the hunters, me and silent continue our regular dialog with you.

In this twisted world, I found myself slowly vanishing.

Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse

It's been a long time, but I'm back.

Ok, will do. This should be good guys.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Erhm, whoops. Just noticed that you guys had planned for something to happen in the background or the such.

Should I edit my action?

I f you want to, although I do love the originality… adds a challenge, as we all have to adapt. Certainly worth it though. I guess Cat would be the first one to react, literally facing two shot guns right now, so I'm waiting for you. I'm fine with another fight though.

I always planned this night with either a peaceful or a violent option, and Silent deciding it in this way obviously fits perfectly for many reasons…
It's up to you though. If you want to see what peaceful options can bring, your free to edit your post. As said, I'll wait for your reaction

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

You definitely had my giggling in my room though, especially with your reaction…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

To be honest, I wanted to warn you of the threat, then torture the guy later after we ambush him.

But whatever floats your boat.

In this twisted world, I found myself slowly vanishing.

Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse

It's been a long time, but I'm back.

You can still do that, after all, Silent is distracted right now…

But do wait for his faction first, before moving in. If he wants to edit the comment, then any other comment might block that option, so let Silent decide first

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Well, this is pretty hard to decide, isn't it?

I suppose, though, that what happens at the camp can be left up to Nails and the rest to handle. I mean, they are rather capable....

Though, I suppose that I'm more of creating a rather confusing situation here. I have written down Alexander as the lone, reclusive guy that worries more about himself than others, but I had planned to...well, describe him better by leaving around inferences and the such.

Even though it would be more mysterious and interesting, I suppose it gets really confusing. And...well, I suppose I'll edit my action so that it doesn't start the violence immediately.

I do wonder how you'll manage to make this "end peacefully", though. And you probably got the best of my curiosity with that.

P.S. Well, my decision is in. No shooting...for now....

Ok, in that case let's forget that awesomely gruesome description of JHP damage…

I think it's Ghouls turn then. I think he's got something good planned. As for Cat's situation… I hope she was loud enough…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Well, shame that I wasn't able to describe someone's violent and painful demise, I suppose.

I love you sick puppies… this is so great!

Yeah no worries, seen what you've done and I really like it

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

I make messed up descriptions. You've read my story. :D

Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse

It's been a long time, but I'm back.

Uhhh...

Unloading the gun means removing the bullet from the gun, not shooting it.

Oops

I thought by unloading, another term for shooting.

Sorry.

In this twisted world, I found myself slowly vanishing.

Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse

It's been a long time, but I'm back.

Ah, well, I could've written it better, I suppose.

But generally, Unloading would be more on the term for Machine guns and semi-automatic weaponry, rather than bolt-based rifles. Still, though, the confusion is understandable.

I've re-written it.

I'm waiting for your fire as my signal, just to clarify.

Ok, the trigger I set myself for the different options is here. Looks like combat is the way to go...

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

I may have to pause here, It's midnight and I have the regular duties tomorrow.

It was really fun though.

In this twisted world, I found myself slowly vanishing.

Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse

It's been a long time, but I'm back.

Yeah no worries, I want the rest of the people to catch up to, e.g. have the other people in the Camp possibly hear Cat and get ready. We'll do the combat tomorrow then.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Nails is ready. I allowed myself to wake Eric and have him following Nails around a short while, assuming his self-preservation instinct is... functional. I hope it's ok.

You can safely assume Nails is lying in the bushes and watching the camp. Any fancy folks there risk getting a bullet if he sees them doing anything to the group's gear and supplies, or if they approach him. Other than that, he'd prefer not to fire in order to remain well hidden - till the dawn, of course.

I like it, a lot… very cautious and clever

But in character "Screw you, some big scary guys get here and you leave me, the poor damsel in distress, to the wolves. Shame on you"

But in character "Screw you, some big scary guys get here and you leave me, the poor damsel in distress, to the wolves. Shame on you"

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

In character, Nemo, it's rather fair from Nails' point of view.

Poor damsel who
- 1) killed a man with her flashlight;
- 2) is Hatter's officer, despite young age - it tells;
- 3) has her past cynical beyond measure, thus possibly being a person who'd easily maim and betray any "men" for what "men" did to her in the past. Note - "possibly"; this means, Nails can't know if this is the case for sure, you know. "Other's soul - shadows" (russian proverb goes);
- 4) displayed no substantial mercy towards mortally wounded old man, threatening him with extra suffering if he won't talk;
- 5) went outside of noise traps perimeter, into the night forest (i deduct this, based on that part about rabbit), leaving the group without letting those at the camp know her intentions.

_That_ poor damsel?.. Yep, Nails leaves her. No shame in doing it. Survival and 17th century french nobility traditions - are incompatible things, he thinks. He values lives more than manners, and sees no shame in it. If situation would be different and he could reliably do something to help Cat live - without risking others' lives too much, too, - then he'd do it for sure. This time, it's not the case. Not at _this_ time and situation, that is.

P.S. oop: "sorry", but reasons he has "Nails" nickname are few more than just one... As you start to see now. ;)

I was actually joking, but no you're very right, anyone who thinks of Cat as a damsel in distress is very wrong… She may not be a fighter, but she packs a punch…

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Then - "you got me, pardner"! :D Good one. ^^

This has been the longest RP for NS since, well... ever.
Got to say that we are doing pretty good with regular stuff, and we are holding up good to new people as well.

asthepanda2

Yeah, we're great, couldn't have done it without you guys!

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Well, looks like I might be able to write some brutal, jaw-dropping combat descriptions after all.

And by jaw-dropping, literally.

Go for it, I know you want to...

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

SO yeah, there's a puny girl, about to unleash her fury. Could be risky, given she's neither strong, nor a melee fighter...

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

But then, iirc, she has a hammer for a melee weapon now; and it's much better in terms of breaking bone and limb than a flashlight, so - good luck with 'em rolls! :)
