Oh, and Nemo, i don't think Silent is going to talk, given these parts of his very initial description one the 1st page of this topic:

... Alex displays very little outward emotions, occasionally communicating with gestures, but always quiet, a silence that he will not even break under pain or torment.
...
--------------
Yep, lads, I'm going completely silent on this one. I do know what I'm doing, though, and with any luck, it won't screw things over.

I've been giving some thought how to circumvent this if you'd _need_ Silent to talk sometimes, and so far - i don't have a slightest idea. :( From this description it's obvious that Silent does not talk by _choice_, which means he won't write anything, too. If it'd be mental block, then "pain or torment" would be effective, if applied in sufficient amount, i guess. Plus, Lunasa himself puts "completely silent on this one" about it, you know.

Though i can imagine that may be Silent has an item - perhaps, a small set of newspapers and notes assembled as a memento of some event / chain of events, which were the key to his current silent condition, explaining it or at least shedding some light about his past; and i can imagine he could possibly give such an item to read to people he trusts; but i don't think Lunasa's RP allows for enough trust "so soon" for Silent to share such an item at this time (inRP) - i feel he knows the rest of the team too little, yet, to trust anyone enough.

May be Lunasa could clarify, though. Especially if i'm mistaken about something(s) in this post...

I completely agree, and in essence there's gonna be a question as to how far each of us goes, as per Rob's comment. But it'll certainly be a good start.

If anyone has stuff to add about Eric, you can add it as a directed response to a post before my latest. The manner in which I timed Eric's return to the party is ambiguous for you guys to take as much liberty as you need in articulating your responses. This is, after all, a work of collaborative fiction. :D

I have my own OOC idea of how the group got ratted out, but it would be inappropriate to act on that speculation when my character doesn't have the context to come up with that idea. >.<

No worries. In fact, i have the best part of my little show reserved for Eric personally. Once in forest, Nails will find an opportunity to talk with Eric in private. Like i said inRP, the brainstorm had a result, and when i say "result", i mean a plan of action to clarify some things about things. You'll see. :)

Speaking of which - can i have the freedom to make Eric to say simple things while he has the conversation with Nails? Like, "Ok, i see", and "What do you mean?", and "How that would work?" - this sort of things. Would it be ok with you?

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

Well, as far as it goes, Alexander is staying silent. And when it comes down to it, it'll probably add a little bit more mystery to the mix to never shed any light on his past or his reasoning. Well, perhaps maybe with inferences.

However, I might consider changing a few things up once we get to Grayling. Perhaps finding documents or the such, or maybe even threading off the rope and granting some speech capabilities at Grayling, assuming we actually get inside without getting repeatedly shot in the face and blown up.

Though I would certainly lean more on the "silent to the grave", it would make it more interesting if it was opted that Silent's past is revealed. But hey, mystery and assumptions are always fun.

Also, did I miss something, or did Mr. Groat/Stoat just turn into some sort of name-changing shapeshifter?

May be he did. Good catch. I didn't notice! Or may be he has a long nobility-like name... Something like "Benjamin Groat McPherson-Batist Stoat"? :D

Ditto about silence. By the way, Silent is my primary optional suspect in the current little experiment, because of his silent nature and how the 1st fight happened. I trust Nemo will sort it out once i put all cards on the table. I could tell right now right here, explain this "optional primary" and all, but as i'll have to write it in inRP, i'd be doing double work. Forest is soon enough, so i hope you guys can wait a little to know what i have in mind.

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

Oh, you even made it a point inRP, Lunasa... It looks like a simple misspell by Nemo, to me, which was picked up and promoted forward by others, including myself. If so, then i doubt it's a good inRP point. Even if Nemo did it on purpose, though, i'd still have Nails thinking the same thing; dying Sergey could confuse a name somewhat, but what are the chances he'd say "Stoat" "Stout" (that's what it was actually! %) ) out of the blue - without knowing a thing about mr. "Groat"? None.

The problem is that after Sergey did it, i also named him - Stout - so (and then Nemo did it two more times in another post, too), and we can't edit it out now, even if we'd want to. Posts too old, no edit button. ><

Proposition to name the man "Stoat" "Stout" from now on. Possible explanation: "Groat" = his last name, "Stout" - his nickname. Hatter mentioned his name only once, and misspelled it. Cat is shown to know the man, in the 1st post of the topic. Silent possibly doesn't know him that well, if at all.

Oh, and one more thing. I find it harmful when one of us - except the GM, i.e. Nemo, - RPs some words or actions of others without obvious need, and even when such a need exists, personally, i try to minimize it, and ask for a permission in specific cases (like i just did about the talk with Eric). You allow yourself to describe actions of other characters ("looks of suspicion that each member was tossing over their shoulders", "each member casting suspicious glances at each other, seeking to catch each other in the act") which i think not every player of our group would like, or agree with. In particular, i described inRP Nails' visibly calm and content looks several posts ago - _despite_ his thoughts and plans. And now all of a sudden Nails - among others, - starts to give "looks of suspicion that each member was tossing over their shoulder"?

It'd be excellent if you'd fix this if you can, Lunasa. I mean, Silent can have all thoughts you like, correct or wrong, doesn't matter, he has the right to think anything, this all is OK, just the part where other characters _do_ things - this is one slippery road, you see...

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

The change in name was somewhat deliberate, although Nails is correct in assuming that there is no difference in how your characters would react. The truth if the matter is still that they have somehow been made known to others, for whatever reason.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

If Lunasa won't edit his last one, then we will really have the name-shifting trouble though: "Groat -> Stout -> Stoat". And it's extremely funny to me how he himself does the same thing he points out to. If this is an example of a fine english humor, then i'm indeed in awe! Marvelous. :D

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

Hahaha, well.

I don't think it's a problem. People always misunderstand things. Probably why Sergey said Stout in the first place. We all know what is meant by the different names, and as such I don't think it'll e a problem in the slightest. It's just very human to forget or confuse names.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Nails and Eric, I've given you a good opportunity to discuss and share theories, but feel free to completely ignore that and just gather food and other things. Totally up to you.

In general, I hope no one is too unhappy about how the group was split for the tasks.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Don't have much time now, so can't explain everything, but basically, it's not theories, but more about safety of the group during approaching night. Nails will ask Eric to put all his devices to a hole in the ground, packing them into a plastic bag, one which Nails took from his 1st looting encounter. Nails will explain to him why he doesn't want others to know about it, - for now, that is; until the morning, - then if Eric will agree with the Nails' plan, they will put few branches and stones into his backpack to keep its weight and size about the same.

Naturally, Nails will be interested to hear about what Eric thinks about whole thing, too. :)

How and why both parts of Nails' "intrigue" were required to provide more safety for the group, and why Nails wants other 3 characters to put Eric's backpack which in fact would have stones and branches instead of electronic devices to a remote location - i'll explain inRP.

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

I think I can see where you are headed, and I like it...

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Errrhm...

Comment fixed. Let's just pretend that never happened, shall we?

I suppose next time I'd ought to reconsider before taking jobs from shapeshifting monstrosities from space.

Hahaha, no worries, in fact I was impressed that you picked up on it, whilst everyone just rolled with it.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Yep, same, same! And Lunasa, even if it wasn't really nice english humor from you by intent, - it still was an awesome joke "in fact". You made my day even if you didn't want to. Thanks!!! :)

Posted. Eric's moment of glory - everyone's fate is now dependant on what he will decide to do! :)

Ok, so Rob could limp along from now on, at a penalty to his rest stat.

Having followed everyone's posts, your characters now have all the following conditions, before the meal:

Cat: Health- cut lower l. arm (bandaged) Thirst- Thirsty Hunger- Hungry Rest- Tired
Nails: Health- one cracked rib Thirst- Quenched Hunger- Fed Rest- Tired
Eric: Health- grazed shoulder (stitched up) Thirst- Fully quenched Hunger- Fully fed Rest- Tired
Silent: Health- Healthy Thirst- Fully quenched Hunger- Fully fed Rest- Tired
Rob: Health: heavily damaged l. calf (bandaged) Thirst- Parched Hunger- Hungry Rest- Exhausted

I took away all bruises, as they only cause discomfort. But given the world we're in, discomfort isn't something all that major.

If anyone has questions as to how I arrived at the stats, ask me via PM

So Nemo, in addition to that last post of mine: after Nails will be back to the camp - no matter what Eric will decide, - i also intend to have Nails go back on the group's tracks some half a mile, then make a travois on the spot (without handle; wood's abundant), drop it there, and hide group's tracks in the direction to the group's camp. Possibly making a small loop or two afterwards.

This means, for you as a GM, i created quite a set of opportunities for you with my RP (it wasn't my goal to create them, was just RPing; still):
1. No enemies attack the group during the night/morning;
2. Enemies follow the group's tracks, but are stuck at the scene Nails prepared (1st paragraph of this post);
3. Enemies go for Eric's devices in the bag (if he'll agree to Nails' plan);
4. Enemies go for Eric's backpack (if he'll agree, and if others will do the backpack-goes-away part);
5. Enemies go for the camp;
6. Something different of your own creation?

I'm itching to find out what you'll make it be. But, of course, everything in due time, i know, i know... :)

I have to say, I love the way you guys respond to the ways I write things. It makes writing much easier, if I'm provided with a multitude of options to go from. Only thing is that it puts me under pressure to come up with something good, or a nice way to tie off ends and such things.

I've already got a few ideas for curve balls, but I'm still wholly undecided as to how I want to play this situation we got going on here, despite the fact that you've all been answering brilliantly.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

You still have an ample time to decide, though; Eric not decided yet, and there is also the talk Cat proposed - to know each other better, - ahead of us, which i guess will happen before you'll have to decide what night/morning would bring. Possibly you'll get needed hints during those festivities, too!

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

I mean, I do have some general idea as to what I could play it as, but as you say, my opinion may change given the different things that still have to happen first

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Going to respond tonight (early morning GMT), sorry for the delay. Lost a whole lot more time than I expected to friends and school. Thanks for your patience, everyone!

No worries, I'm in holidays at the moment, so I know how time flies when you have to be back in school or uni

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Going to be a bit later than that, even. Noon or later GMT. Homework is killing me, pulling all-nighter. x_x

Done! Thanks for your patience, everyone. I'll get back on the ball about response times.

Uh-oh... It means my butt gotta stop being lazy? Oh, noes! :D :D

On a more serious one: can't exactly see the logic of "possibility: Nails is trying to make the group think Eric is the informant" part. Nails took care to tell the rest of the group that Eric's devices could be bugged without him knowing, in the very 1st post of this little show; the point is sound, and i see no reason how any outcome could make this possibility to be removed. Can you clarify why exactly Eric thinks that group could start to suspect he's a rat - here in ooRP?

aiming to have the feast tonight, let me know if you can/can't make it

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

I can. Any schedule (in GMT) for it? Also, i will make a post in about 0,5...1,5 hours, getting ready for the feast/night.

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

I was thinking 9/10 ish, but it depends on whether there are enough people available. Starts looking good though with 60% of people possibly there

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

It is a distinctly irrational, ill-founded suspicion. Our dear hacker has some untreated anxiety issues. :P

I'd love to attend, but it depends on when we start. Unfortunately, I tend to be pretty busy in the early afternoon here - my attendance would be spotty between 18:00 and 24:00. I do have a data plan and a cell phone though, so I can respond, if very slowly.

I've been distracted; will start making that post of mine in about 5 mins. Turnglehat, the times you said - are those 18...24 GMT, or is it some other timezone? Just curious.

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

Great post, but could you possibly take out the last paragraph? We'll come to that all by ourselves. Like what you've done though

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Done. But if anyone will ask Nails to leave the camp while he's still boiling those sauce pans, he'll naturally refuse. Unless it's an emergency. Sauce pan work - is one important job, you know. :P

Tried to conclude all the "preparations" activities, yep. Took a long time to write that post, and it ended up being huge. What you see is less than a half of the initial version. :D

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

Oh wow, impressive job. Yeah sure, you can RP however you want, just skipping over things that haven't happened yet (i.e. the conversations), is a point where I'll jump to action

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Yep, it felt "strange" to me too. Was an awkward attempt anyways. As for the size - well, despite myself often being quite lengthy, i am in fact a firm believer to this particular wisdom: "The greatest writers of English literature all say the same thing: cut, then cut, then cut again. Good writing comes from revision". Unlike Stephen King, who was content with cutting only ~10% of his initial text length, i most often practice 50% or larger reductions, especially when i come up with something lengthy. Not only it improves quality; it also increases chances - a little, - that someone would actually read through the entirety of the text. :D

Plus, i gotta do something to compensate for my sometimes awkward, if not plain wrong, english. Cutting is helpful for this, too. See, i'm still struggling with lots of mistakes, grammar and spelling alike. Inevitable, when one's english is all self-taught, and i never had anyone teaching me english since middle school (where it was more formality than anything else).

P.S. I wonder if i'll be able to steal it tonight. There are some chances... I'm all ready for the strike. All concentrated... Waiting. I'll need some luck, for sure, but i think i'm REAL close. Soon, soon i'll know for sure... Don't ask me what this P.S. is about, for now... You'll know soon enough. I'll tell you, myself. In this, everyone is for himself... There can be only one. :P

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

I have a fairly good idea as to what your PS is about. As to your english, all of your posts are easily readable and despite the odd mistake here or there, always coherent. Unless you want to be corrected in order to improve, You have absolutely nothing to worry about

PS: Not sure if you knew, but I'm calculating ith 1 litter per bottle. Hence why Cat uses some of the water Nails brought in my post

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

I'm calculating 0,5 liters per bottle as per Neo Scavenger capacity. Larger bottles would occupy more container space in Neo terms; and ~0,5 bottles are most abundant in real world, followed by ~2 liters, and only then - 1 liter ones.

Not sure what we should do; are you sure it's 1 liter per bottle? I can correct my post to comply with this, but i want to be really sure, 1st...

P.S. And no, you probably have no idea what my previous P.S. here was about. Really. I can't tell you yet, but if you'd hint me about what you think, then i'd be able to tell you it's not it... If it's not it, which i guess is the case. :P

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

I've so far always gone with 1 lt per bottle, as it's simple and easy. No need to correct anything from your previous post, just means that you have 5 lts of water that are not yet boiled. A good rationale would be that Nails wants to keep reserves for longer, and so will boil the rest only when his supply up to now dwindles.

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Alright.

Meanwhile, my moment of glory is at hand! I made it! I stole the thing. :P I waited patiently, and in the right moment, i hit and score. I am the one! :D What my P.S. was about, - is now fulfilled. I can tell now, what it is. But 1st: is it what you think it was? Do you know what i've done? Was your idea right? Did you guess it from the start? Very curious. :D

... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr

has it got something to do with Nails' plan?

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

No. Of course it doesn't. Please note: in those postscriptums, i never used Nails' name; in there, it's about me - Fins. About what i, - Fins, - did; what i - Fins, - stole; what i - Fins, - am.

I gonna tell what it is, now. Behold! I am the one who made 100th response in our topic! This glorious number is right there to see. See? Good luck stealing the next round-number post - the 1000th! :P

Nemo

So, Cat shared her life story, at least in vague terms… Who's gonna be next?

Looking forward to knowing more about Nails' past!

Nemo

Wanderer of the Wasteland

Hey, it seems like i'm coming into the group RP.

Me and Nemo have been discussing my character over the past few days, perfecting it to fit the story better and how i'll be introduced.

Glad to be here!

In this twisted world, I found myself slowly vanishing.

Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse

It's been a long time, but I'm back.

Cool. By the way, if your character can, by any chance, have electrician skill - it'd be awesome, i think. But in any case - welcome aboard!
