Hey guys :D

Here's my story: I was born at some point some years ago, and some years later I put a few hours into this video game Neo Scavanger, and are having a dilemas. I posted a similar wonderings on the Nexus page for this mod wondering if this mod seamlessly fits into the game - if it's balanced and at no point shouts 'I'M A MOD; YOUR GAME IS MODDED' at you while playing.

I can tell it's a top quality work, but just starting out on this game I would like to have a rather balanced and wholesome experience. I'm not disatisfied with vanilla, and I'm not craving new items ALREADY, but what told me that this mod may be something special were the balance changes making it more difficult in places it should be, the idea of which I'm in love with!

I guess this post comes down to the usual 'is this mod for me', but I ask not because I am lazy to try it out or to read what it changes, but because I do not want to spoil a thing about this wonderful game: I want to go full steam into it and not look back until I reach an obstacle more significant than me being dissatisfied with a gameplay system that feels like it was put in solely as a convenience for the player, or noticing that the writing style of x npc is inconsistent with the rest of the universe and am therefore plucked from my sauna of immersion.

I think you are asking: Is MmoD balanced and does it fit seamlessly within the game and the gameworld. You are asking for personal opinions clearly, because it's impossible to be "objective" about this.

Yes, this mod is balanced nicely. Yes, it fits seamlessly within the game world, both in terms of added items and their sprites and in terms of writing/encounters. Yes, it makes the game more difficult. It also adds a lot of "filler" items, that enhance the experience and make the game world feel more alive but don't necessarily help you, in an attempt to improve immersion. So no, this isn't a "convenient" mod.

And btw, yes, I am biased as anyone answering you would be, whether they agree or disagree with me. There is literally no other way to answer this question, it is a matter of perspective, you realize that right?

Sure guvna, but you can usually tell when someone is on the same wavelength as you and when you value similar things. Not everything is subjective, I think there really actually is a... 'baseline(?)' in all of us which determines what is enjoyable and what is not, and the baseline is the same in everyone. There seems to be two distinct positions people inhabbit when it comes to enjoyment of things, and it's either that natural 'baseline' (super vague, sorry) and there's the other side of it which could be seen as an addiction to convenience, or an aversion to commitment (commitment to game mechanics, for example).

And the latter is what ruins games, and is what the general direction of everything is going in in 2016, and is what I don't wanna see invading my precious neo scavenger. I need to learn how to express things more eloquently ;D so as not to confuse. But what I'm trying to say is that I don't believe there is any such thing as a subjective view on something like this, it's more like circumstance; there is a holy grail of a correct answer out there somewhere, not everything is a matter of opinion and subject.

Had an idea-Roller Suitcase. Tiny, light vehicle you can run with, capacity of a Backpack or Child's Backpack. Provides Scrap Metal, Rags, Cloth, and two Caster Wheels on destruction.

I honestly wanted to add that thing for a long time - with decent inventory space but less than average durability - but was always postponing it, simply because I don't have a vision on how to draw it :D

How do i open cans?

Use (craft with) a non-brittle sharp edge with point, a.k.a. anything sharp, pointy and strong enough, a.k.a. a knife or blade of some description.

It would appear with this mod I can auto see if water is infected or not

I am that low life scum that hunts down a scavenger, laughs as he tries to surrender, beats him to death with my club, and eats his gummy bears before moving onto the next sucker.

Try deleting and re-installing the mod (and not using any others at the same time). The water being identified is usually a bug caused by wrong installation and/or mod conflict.

It actually went away upon either reloading the game or starting another one. Thank you! I also had a quick question, I apologize if its been answered before, what qualifies as the police gear you aren't allowed to sell? Obviously the vest and helmet, I assume the gun but I'm not sure, and the baclava/gloves? I assume the bullets, pants, and shirts are fine to sell. I've got a character currently trying to go a month without entering combat (eating at last chance, sleeping at Park's Place, and restocking any supplies at the junk market) and once I'm able to kill DMC Guards with relative ease I'd like to know what I can sell.

By the way, phenomenal mod. It honestly makes the game feel new again.

What's the logic with being able to make a hobo stove out of a frying pan? Is not the frying pan better? Also, it doesn't feel right, with the pan being so flat. heh

I just had me an idea. The pan cannot boil 3 portions of water at a time, but the only actual negative of this is a real-life time inconvenience. Perhaps you could make it require 2 particles of water to boil, it then boiling it down to one as the finished product? This makes sense because of the larger surface area of water exposed, and a frying pan is harder to cover than a pot :D! It would make getting a pot much more exciting, too :)

I'm a little stuck. I recently added in 3 new images (wooden plank CreItms and ItmPlankHeld) to my version of this mod, and the game, on launch, gets to 73% and stays stuck on 'loading image row 778' (the getimages.xml is all perfect; nothing is wrong with it!). I added in a little Amode image for the Red Horizon vodka bottle, and there were no problems adding that in. Why is it stuck, friends?

I've done the getimages, I've put in all appropriate bits of text under the wooden plank's ItemType... what have I missed?

There's almost certainly a typo either in the getimages.php or in one of the image filenames, or alternatively you forgot to put one or more images into the img folder and the game keeps trying to find them.

hey it said that one of the mods is bigbadcheater, and i was wandering if it has the same immortal, cheater, and super human traits? or if i could some how activate them?

Yeah, you can use both mods together. Simply download and place both my mod and the BBC in your game folder, then open the "getmods.php" file in any text editor and change it's contents to (single long line):

uhhh sorry bout this.

i encountered a problem, cause i already had big bad cheater so i extracted it again to 2 different folders in different orders ( so with 1 adding BBC to your mod, and the other adding your mod to BBC), i copy and pasted the line of code you made for me (:3) but it didn't work wiht this error:

Is spear fishing just a "prank bro"?
I've tried it on a few different water sources (2 lakes, a swamp and 3 rivers), But it only teases about it being "just like in the movies" before i become cold, stired and return empty-handed. Is there actually a chance to get fish, Or is it just there to punish the hoplessly hopefull?

It does not give you anything. It was meant as a placeholder for a proper fishing initially, but since the food is really abundant in the game, making it even more common wasn't wise, so I never got to do anything with it.

So yeah, consider it a punishment for hope. Cause as we all know: "Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment".

Can we craft ragged cloaks/hoods? It seems like something that would be doable out of a lot of rags (maybe 15 or 20 to make up for the lack of string needed, As an alternative to the tunic)

Thats not currently possible, but definitively something to consider for adding somewhere down the line.

How do I craft darts? No combination of nails, paper, cloths craps, nuts/bolts, etc is working.

Its 2x Nails + 5x Papers and you have to have a sharp edged tool as well.

Nice, thank you! Can finally make use of that pipe gun I found. Also, not sure if it's a known bug, but the tanner didn't spawn a dogman coat after the requisite time passed and the dialogue popped up. Is there a specific hex that it spawns on?

Should be the one the entire discussion takes place. Will look into that...

I installed your mod, and when I try to use the "Empty Out" option with some containers like the MedKit it just doesn't work, the items inside the containers also can't be taken out from it.

Everything works for me and no one else reported such behaviour, so my guess is on your game getting corrupted somehow. Try deleting and reinstalling the game and the mod. It should fix that issue.

i can confirm that it's working as well, your not using other mods with this are you? sometimes a faulty merge or install can cause some strange happenings without crashing the game.

I prepared Explosive Runes this morning!

Its not too complicated - once everything on the planet stops preventing me from concentrating on anything creative, I plan to finish the Scrappers storyline, which will include an encounter-based pseudo-battle and a shop with tech-related stuff as a revard. Other than that, I have a few loose items to add, for which I already have sprites made, but nothing really game-changing.

That would be the version 1.0, so roughly all I initially planned for the mod to be, those 2 years ago when I started. Still have a lot more ideas on the back-burner, but don't want to promise anything.

And if you guys have any suggestions, I may be willing to listen, of course :D

What is the Comprehensive Illustrated Guide to Mushrooms? i Just found one and its worth quite a bit but is there something special i can do with it, is it a plan for a future update to allow somebody to obtain new abilities or just for aesthetic effects as i also found a Electronic Handbook for Amateurs.

Mushroom Guide is an experiment - you can use it in crafting, with mushrooms, in order to identify them even without the Botany skill. It does take time and is done via crafting menu, so its not a superpower... But it's something :D

Electronics Handbook does and will not do anything.

Alright just thinking that if the mushroom identification book works maybe add the same for the Electronics Handbook by allowing it to be used in place of the electronics skill?

How would that work though?

The whole idea about the mushroom picking guides is that you take a shroom you found and compare it to the pictures and data in the album, until you are sure what kind of fungus is it. It takes time but demends no skill, save reading itself.

With electronics, as well as most other technical skills, it does not work this way. You have to have a background knowledge of physics, electrics and electronics in order to take a bunch of parts, soldering iron and turn that into a radio or some other stuff. And various guides and textbooks are really only learning aids, and nothing more. Comparing parts to pictures in a book wont be too helpful, overall...

Maybe not necessarily as skills can often be learned over time through reading and studying, maybe not used right off the bat but maybe a future electronic you can create that would require both the knowledge of Electronics and the book itself. But yes i do understand the point you make with not being able to just use a book and know everything.

You could make it that using the book in crafting allows you to craft some of the more basic things which require the electrician skill and in some simple encounters like scavenging where there is the option to refer to the book you have which gives like half the bonus of actually using skill etc. Also make it so the book can only be used like 10 or so times before it breaks and turns into random papers worth a lot less only useful for kindling etc (I'm guessing by the setting of the game most books would be old and moldy/crumbly

What do you have in mind for weapons or tools in the future, and if not any is there any plans to make certain items useful in more ways than just weaponry like the pipe wrench, multi-tool, and hacksaw being able to break down cars in the parking lot scavenge locations or such?

Also is the handheld video game supposed to have a purpose or is it just there for fun?

Also the DB Shotgun is particularly weak compared to the regular shotgun, I've been shot a couple times on different characters with it and it only causes moderate to light bruising?

Ideas for tools and weapons - lots of loose ideas, not much decided upon. I do however indeed plan to make hacksaw a tool to obtain metal scraps in certain scavenging locations. Maybe the monkey wrench too.

If you have a handheld game loaded with charged batteries, you can play it. After that, you will have a small status that makes falling asleep a bit easier for the next 2-3 hours.

And the shotgun being week is your luck. The damage of double barrel has ecact the same damage as the pump action one, with sawn-off variety actually having a bit more kick to it, marginally more likely to stun/break bones, etc.

ive tried to use this mod with BigBadCheater and it doesnt work. ive tried to use the getmods text that you provide and it doesnt load bigbadcheater. what can i do?

In the DMC when you try to get a job Licensce the game just gives you an empety memory stick. is this feature going to be fixed or removed? (plz fix)

Canibalism is okay as long as you only eat other canibals!

Are you playing with any other mods, by any chance?
