will my changes to XML file be reset after every patch?

i have done alot of minor changes to the properties of weapons and items in the XML, and i rly hope they don't all get reset.

Currently, yes, that is likely to happen.

Make backups, and document somewhere the changes you make so you can quickly and easily add them back in to new patches.

if i made a backup copy of my entire modified XML, then pasted it into the neo scavenger folder that has a new update, will it replace everything in the XML (including removing the updates and new content) with my backup? or will it only change and replace what i have done, while keeping the patches? sorry for the terrible wording

You wont be able to simply paste it it, the new XML will include all the new changes that Dan made to the new version. That means you would have to make your changes to the new XML all over again.

However, Dan is currently working on a mod loading mechanic that should make modding much easier. We don't know how it will work yet though, and I am pretty sure you will have to modify your mod in a big way to make it fit the new loader, once it is available.

So backup your changes and brace yourself for some additional copy-pasting in the future ;)
