Project ModMerge

The final version of ModMerge is ready for testing! :D Please note, there are probably MANY bugs... I tried my best to merge these mods but bugs are inevitable, there's just too much script going on lol

So let me know of any bugs, issues or even things you'd like to be changed for balancing gameplay. I'll Attempt to work it all out with mini-updates starting with the most critical bugs found.

This will also be the FINAL version of ModMerge for NeoScavenger 0.987. It will be a while before I make a new version for the new build of Neoscavenger when it's released.

Potatoes
A new consumable item. Can be eaten raw but it's best used in cooking recipes.

Chunk of Fat
A new consumable dropped by butchered big animals. It takes more time to rot and can be eaten raw or used in some recipes. You can get more fat from meat by combining a Sharp Edge with a Medium Meat.

Cracklings
A new cooked consumable. These can stack up to 5 and take time to rot but eating too much can lead to gastroenteritis. To cook it, you need a Medium Heat Source, a Fire/Water Proof Container, a Sharp Edge and a Chunk of Fat.

Tallow
A material made out of the fat you carve from big animals. It doesn't rot but can only be carried in bottles or cans. Can be eaten but it's mainly used as ingredient for other recipes. To make it, you need a Medium Heat Source, a Fire/Water Proof Container, a Sharp Edge, a unit of Water and 2x Chunk of Fat.

Flour
A lootable ingredient. Its only purpose is to be used in cooking recipes.

Homemade Bread
There are 2 types of this consumable, normal bread and ash bread. To make them, you Need a Medium Heat Source, a Fire/Water Proof Container (Normal Bread) or Medium/Large Shaft (Ash Bread), a unit of Water, 2x of Flour and a unit of Tallow (Normal Bread) or 4x of Ash (Ash Bread).

Mulligan Stew
A new craftable food item. Its recipe needs a Medium Heat Source, a Water/Fire Proof Container, a Sharp Edge, a unit of Water, a Chunk of Small Meat, 2x Vegetables and one Extra Cooking Ingredient, which can be another Chunk of Small Meat, a Potato, a Handful of Flour or a Chunk of Fat. Also, Death Caps count as veggies so be careful!

Bark Solution
This is a liquid that is used in the tanning and repair of leather. To make it, you need a Heat Source, a Water/Fire Proof Container, 2x Water and 10x Tannin Source.

Tool Kit
This lootable "crafting kit" is used in a variety of equipment crafting and repair recipes. It offers limited storage space.

Baseball Bat
A sturdy wooden bat. It's very durable and does decent damage. It can be looted mostly in houses and apartment buildings or from hostile humans.

Nail Bat
A wooden bat upgraded with nails. It degrades slightly faster than unmodified bats but it causes both fear and nasty wounds. It can be crafted with a Tool Kit, a Baseball Bat, 3 Rags for better grip of the handle and 6 small mechanical parts for nails.

Scrap Metal
A lootable crafting component. It's found mainly in urban hexes and it's used in mostly for weapon crafting.

Scrap Knives
Weak makeshift knives. They can also be thrown at enemies, which makes them quite useful. To craft 3 of them, you will need a Tool Kit, Scrap Metal and 6 Rags for the handles.

Scrap Machete
A medium sized sharpened blade. Not as sturdy as other melee weapons but it does good damage and it's also feared. To craft one, you will need a Tool Kit, Scrap Metal and 3 Rags for the handle.

Cathcart North "Shredder" 12-gauge Shotgun
It's the craftable Sawoff version of the "Perforator" Shotgun. It takes less room, it's lighter and does slightly more damage but its firing range has been greatly reduced and it makes less melee damage. You need a "Perforator" Shotgun and a Tool Kit to craft it.

Leather Patch
Similar in concept to chunks of furs, these are used in lots of equipment crafting recipes. To make a Leather Patch, you need a Sharp Edge, Water/Fire Proof Container, 2x Ash, 2x Water, a Small Pelt and Tanning Material (Either Bark Solution or Tallow).

Leather Cap
A weak leather head armor. Can be crafted with a Tool Kit, 2x Medium Thread and 3x Leather Patch.

Leather Vest
A weak leather chest armor. Can be crafted with a Tool Kit, 15x Medium Thread and 10x Leather Patch. There are also a couple of repair recipes that requires either A Tool Kit, 2x Leather Vests, 5x Medium Thread and Tanning Material or a Tool Kit, a Leather Vest, 5x Medium Thread, 5x Leather Patch and Tanning Material.

Leather Gloves
These are similar to Tactical Gloves and they also degrade faster. To make one, you need a Tool Kit, 3x Medium Thread and 2x Leather Patch.

Leather Boots
These use less room when stored and degrade faster than other footwear but can be crafted. To make one you need a Tool Kit, a Footwear, 6x Medium Thread, 4x Leather Patch and Tanning Material.

Leather Quiver
A craftable arrow container that can be used in the special gear slot. You can store 5 arrows in there. To craft it, you need a Tool Kit, 4x Medium Thread and 6x Leather Patch.

Leather Waterskin
A liquid only container. It takes less room when empty and can also be carried in the special gear slot. Can be crafted with a Tool Kit, 2x Medium Thread and 3x Leather Patch.

Pistol Holster
This is a faction item carried by DMC Guards. It can be used in the special gear slot and can only carry a Pistol.

Handgun Holster
This is a craftable holster. Unlike the DMC Guard one, you can put either a Pistol or a Revolver in this one. It degrades faster, though. To craft it, you need a Tool Kit, 5x Medium Thread and 5x Leather Patch.

SawOff Holster
A craftable holster for the SawOff Shotgun. To craft it, you need a Tool Kit, 6x Medium Thread and 6x Leather Patch.

Wearable Rags
Headrags, Handrags and Footrags will give a small protection against cold. Footrags can also remove the 'barefoot' status. To make them you just need set a number of either Clean or Dirty Rags.

Wearable Hood
You can now use the Hood in Hoodies by right clicking and choosing the option. It provides a bit of extra warmth at the cost of degrading speed. Bad Muthas wear the Hood in Hoodies so some of them can be identified more easily. Looters can pick up Hoodies with the Hood On and wear them like that, though.

Tarp Cloak
A hooded tarp cloak. It's not as warm as other clothing but easy to craft. You only need a Sharp Edge, 2x Tarp and 4x Medium Thread. It cannot be disassembled back into its components.

Tarp Pack
A makeshift 5x10 container that can be thrown over the shoulders and be carried like a backpack. To make one, you need a Tarp and 5x Medium Thread.

Tarp Sleeping Bag
A poor quality 6x6 sleeping bag. It offers the same benefits as the normal ones but this one degrades over time. You need 3x Tarp and 6x Medium Thread to make one.

Corny Wolverine
A mixed drink that will increase the number of movement points by 1 and body temperature while decreasing hunger, sleep and thirst during the duration of the Corny Status Effect. When the effects are gone, you will be both hungover and crashing after a caffeine high. The Corny Status Effects cannot stack. To make it you just have to combine a unit of Soda with a unit of Whiskey.

OTHER EXTRA CONTENT

-Dogman Fur Coat + Sharp Edge = 15x Small Chunk of Fur.
-Tool with Screwdriver + First Aid Kit + 2 Small Parts + 2 Medium Thread = First Aid Kit w/ Strap.
-Spears + 2 Medium Thread = Spears w/ Strap.
-New graphics for the Revolver.

Okay my bad i guess i looked but didn't look hard enough

So I decided to try a little harder on the sprites, took me a while but made I think it looks pretty cool :D

Made a bushy stick sprite and a camouflage tunic, thinking will be a nice recipe for using the hiding skill

EmpororZA I would be grateful if this could be updated with the current version of Makeshift weapons mod and Neo Scavenger Extended. I tried to merge them myself, but I apparently made a mistake somewhere, probably something small I overlooked, or mistyped some reference IDs when moving things, but I would really appreciate getting this updated, as I would like to play with all of these mods.

Damn sorry for all the updates on this one. This merge was a bit rough.

Bugs and Issues
- Mulligan Stew lists 3x poisoned vegatables in recipe
- Crowbar doesn't open locked sheds while you have lockpicking skill
- sometimes not all added purchasable skills are available at haggerty health clinic
- can throw unlimited charges into Makeshift Laser Rifle (combat related)
- DMC Guard helmet not spawning in loot (colliding with rag headwear, to-do list)
- Overpowered Hammer
- too many Metal Sheets and Lighter Refills
- Lockers can store liquids
- DMC Guards have strange behave weirdly during combat and don't use shotguns if they have them

Fun times and strange bugs.

I found a bug in this mod, not sure which part it is from, but I found a Looter with a backpack FULL of saucepan helmets. And when i say 'Full' I mean, that almost the entire backpack was loaded with saucepan helmets, like, ten or more of them, in conditions ranging from one that was 100% to some that were in the low teens. You might want to look into the loot code for the Saucepan helmet.

Hey buddy, I just found a bug the size of texas, I think. One, When I get Hypnotized, it gives me a skill that says Insomniac instead of making my insomniac trait be struck out. Still testing to see if my Insomnia is actually cured. Also, this mod may be interfering with the laser eye surgery, as my Myopia trait did not correctly get struck out. However the problem seems to be minor, as the sight radius seems correct, and I am no longer having the Insomniac sleep issues.

Whee, another bug, this one is with the pistol holster. It will not hold a pistol, instead, it seems to believe that it is a lighter fluid container. Further, I can no longer put pistols into the pocket on the DMC guard armor.

And three is a charm, time for bed, so this will be the last edit until morning.

Found another glitch, this one with Mulligan Stew. Not sure if this was a merging error, or a bug pre-existent in NS Extended. The recipe slip for Mulligan Stew lists 'Vegetable (Poisoned) x2' as an ingredient, might want to check on this one.

lol thanks for the testing, mmm the first one is supposed to work like that, you'll still have the old trait shown in the skills screen, but the new traits will give the player the conditions to cancel out previous effects.

I'm gonna check out the pistol/pistol holster and mulligan stew tables now :S

edit: not sure where to look for that last one (poisoned mulligan stew listed in recipe), I'm gonna have to try duplicate the problem ingame or something :S

Good morning, this will be today's bug post, edits forthcoming, but I found our first contestant for today.

Mulligan Stew Recipe slip is still bugged, it now says Vegetable (Poisoned) x3 as an ingredient, I think that the recipe slip might be pointing at the wrong recipe, as there are TWO versions of the Mulligan Stew recipe, one that uses normal vegetables, and one that is supposed to be hidden that uses poisoned vegetables. You may need to talk to Chiko about this, as it may be an error in the original Neo Scavenger Extended code.
Debugging Suggestion: Check the code for the mulligan stew recipe slip, see if the ID codes are correct. Make sure it is pointed at the correct recipe, this seems like it might be simply missing an ID, and now the recipe is pointed at slightly the wrong place.

Its a weird bug, I don't see any problems with Chiko's original coding, and I've went over it a few times to make sure its pointing everywhere correctly after I got my mergin on, mmm even tried removing the "vAlsoTry" tags which is prolly why its now showing poisoned x3 instead of whatever hmmm I'm stumped. I guess there's not much I can do to fix that bug right now. I should prolly put those vAlsoTry values back though lol. *sigh* I guess I'll figure it out eventually.

Okay, I know what to do.

restore the vAlsoTry tags, change the order of the tags, so that poisoned vegetables' tag is after the tag for unpoisoned vegetables, that should fix the issue.

I think it is putting the recipe as the first thing that is on the list to try, so it has to be told to try the unpoisoned vegetables before trying the poisoned vegetables.

OR the problem is that it is looking at the recipe for poisoned mulligan stew instead of unpoisoned mulligan stew.

Wow nice, could be better if I knew those mods before, now finding any working recipe is hard xD

Anyway I have bug with half loaf of bread, no img in inventory but in description it is.
And that big lighter can be crafted into 2 ashes, its kinda strange that big lighter can boil water without nothing more.
I know its pack and probably shouldn't it report here but you know better from with mods it is.

did you copy and replace both the neogame.xml and the getimages.php files with the files from the mod folder/compressed file?

Sounds like could be the getimages.php Edit: Also/or add/replace the img folder

Edit: also I'll have a look into that lighter turning into ashs in the crafting screen lol, that shouldn't be happenin :S

Yeah I just unpacked and make replace+add to everything.

DMC have no helmets, its that specially or kinda strange bug? And sometimes they don't drop weapon after death even when they weard it on start (maybe its my wrong observation gonna check it again later)

I couldn't make irrigation, I know there is something with those half logs but couldn't craft trough from recipe you wrote and I don't know how to use those half logs actually.

Also Big lighter fuel usage is way to low especially how often you can find lighter refills. 1 per hour its 1 per turn i think 10 or even 15 per hour it would be still small with 99 max fuel. Maybe change max to 10 fuel in stack ?

Could you tell me how damage range looks on stuff like aviation snips hammer and matchetes? Or some ease way to check it myself? Because I though fire axe would be best but can be quite wrong and fire axe in hands start to be very big and looks ugly.

Its not that its ugly, just if you have inhand fire axe then picture is increased and tragically pixelated, I don't think its should increase by self kinda bug maybe?

What kind of battery use taser? Islab?

And damn makeshift laser rifle is great but god damnit it broke so fast xD and found some mechanic bug but I think its from game not from mod
When you have container with lets say iphone battery and its have 19 and 20 elec charges you can drop unlimited amount of charges to this via move all. Gonna test it later on clean version

Hmm I'm not sure if I get it correctly dmg range not weapon range, maybe better if you can compare hammer to monkey wrench.

I think there's another place to see ranges but that's in battlemoves which I haven't touched for melee weapons (just taser and firebomb)

Yeah about charges, Laser rifle should use more than 1 charge per shot, maybe 20 because right now its gonna broke way faster than you gonna empty magazine. And with 20 per shot it won't be first weapon what go practically broke from one magazine ;D

How penetrate work ?

lol yeah I'll look into that, I have no idea how penetration works actually lol. my best guess is that its how much armor it bypasses, but I've been wrong many times before ;D

Hmm now I found out how to replicate that bug with recharges.
When you use some charges (actually I shooted from lazer rifle) then you can throw inside unlimited amount of charges

Found another one - crowbar doesnt unlock locked sheds (tried both versions with strap and strapless)
If you cant reproduse it - make a character without lockpicking and then learn it from book. Maybe that the reason.

New lighter doesnt degrade and use lighter oil + you can boil water in it + it counts as a small fire!

I think I found out why DMC guards don't have helmets anymore. Something is colliding with it and headrags because now they have headrags inside armor. Its just guess from observation you could look inside for this

And you could make some more use of lighter fuel, or change drop chance of this because there is still a lot of this with metal sheets.
Maybe some makeshift generator what use a lot of lighter fuel but produce charges ?

And balacing isue, hammer shouldn't be more powerfull than monkeywrench because it take less space and is used in crafting. I know monkey wrench can be used as stick but getting stick are absurdal ease alse hammer should have faster degrade rate.
Makeshift laser rifle could have bigger penetration it won't change its power but it will be much better against armored units (dogman, DMC guards) + you could make possibility to hold it on back because its impossible to hide it in any vehicle.

Srsly I love how I need to search for bucking small mechanical parts xD never though they gonna be so annoying to hoard

thanks those are some great ideas. The helmets sounds like maybe a duplicate ID number somewhere I'll check it out.
I've tried to duplicate the problem ingame myself but the DMC guard keeps calling for sniper reinforcement and killing me LOL

The lighter fluid and metal sheets are part of my problem with spawning loot properly ;D I'm thinking I need to revamp my loot tables. I want to add a scrap yard scavenge location though, where the metal sheets and old tyres etc will be found exclusively. (Also alot more small mechanical parts :D)

There's a lot of things I still need to add to make lighter fluid more useful as well. The hammer mmm I'm not sure about this yet, but I think you have a point, I'll probably have to nerf it a bit.

The makeshift laser rifle was the first weapon I made xD kinda just forgot about it... I'll put it on my to-do list! In the beginning I wanted to add the strap for the back but I got carried away with other features, forgot about it xD

Lockers can store liquids.

Dunno if place with bigger small mechanical parts spawn is that good idea (instantly it will be to ease), better maybe other way to obtain it like disassemble guns or something because its kinda like sad that you can't do this already.

I tried to get fat from human corpse and it didnt work.
And also add strap to the fire axe.

To make a solar cell you could use the code of the RTG from the isotope mine and change the code so it only does it at night

gonna be a while, I want to clean up bugs from my makeshifter mod v0.21 and then its going to take a huge amount of time to merge the new mod versions as well. The mods are getting bigger every day lol. Hang tight

The Headrag Bug is in Neo Scavenger Extended, and is patched in the current version of that mod. Update please?

Wow, this is an awesome mod. I played for a few hours and I happened to notice that for some reason the DMC guards don't seem to spawn pistols either. I'm gonna go try again and hopefully not get sniped this time.

Alrighty, I finished my go-kart :D So now I'll start working on the next update for modmerge (which will probably be the last modmerge update for 0.987b)

So it will be a while till I make another update after this one for the next build of neo scavenger
