The Great Black Swamp Art Inspiration?

Is it me or does the Great Black Swamp's art seem very visually similar to the aftermath of the Third Battle Of Ypres (Passchendaele)? in WWI?

[Somewhat OT]
The album Omega Arcane by Shade Empire makes me think a lot of 'end-game' NEOScavenger lol. [ caution, Finnish Symphonic Black Metal] :P

It does look similar. Though, I suspect any post-disaster imagery shares certain features.

When I asked Jordan Grimmer to do the swamp piece, I mentioned that the Lac-Mégantic, Quebec derailment aftermath was a good reference. In particular, after the fires were put out, everything was charred, skeletal, and covered in chemicals:

However, some of the other references included war photos, particularly where explosions or chemicals had exfoliated the area.
