Safe storage?

I was thinking there should be some places you can (with some effort) set up to be able to safely store things, or be able to hide things.

Being able to use hacking/mechanics/electrition to fix the door in the cryofacility so that what ever you have stored there is safe would be a good exsample....

the sugestion of rented storage at DMC is another...

Being able to use like a shovel or a container and ropes to hide something making it verly unlikely to be found would be another nice option.

That way you can store things some where with out fear of scavangers comeing along and grabbing them.

Also Kinda think people shouldn't be able to walk up and take stuff from the area your in while your asleep if you have noise traps set up o.O

NPCs should in general be more carefull about trying to steal from some one unless there dying or unarmed if you ask me. Some guy laying there asleep with a shotgun straped to him I wouldn't want to run up bare handed and try and take the pile of food beside him!

He's asleep? Advance quietly under cover, and beat him down.

"Wow! This looter's soup can actually had soup in it!"

Looters don't function like that, when they search a location, and when they find your camp, they loot what they can without attacking you, often setting off your noise traps.

Most NPCs save maybe the blue frogs and the bad muthers or what ever there called are overly cautious about combat. And there usaly more conserned about killing you than taking your stuff...

on a side note, I think the area just around DMC is TOO safe to store stuff... with the DMC gaurds around nothing gets close enugh to your camps but them and they don't loot anything. But if you just leave a lot of stuff laying around on the ground in the slums of a city that big I don't think it should last that long with out you there to protect it.

Unless the DMC gaurds stop people in the slums from stealing from each other but don't seam like something that would be a priority to them

I really like the idea of being able to bury/hide stuff, for example using a shovel item or something. It shouldn't be totally un-stealable, but it should force other scavengers to "make a roll" to find stuff you leave hidden in a hex.

The idea of hiding a "stash" with the intent to return to later is very "post apocalypse" thematically, IMO, and would add something useful and tone-friendly to the game.

Imagining (A) struggling on tired, hungry and out of ammo a few more hexes to reach that stash you placed halfway between Zom-Zoms and the DMC or (B) gleefully uncovering a stash only to find someone discovered and looted it... both seem like perfect experiences to go with NeoScavenger's theme and play style!

hell even picking a particular building and hiding it carefully should be an option that helps

In the middle of a city, whats the chances a scavenger is going to search the building/home you hid your stuff in... let alone find the bag you tucked into the wall / air vent / ect???

I love the idea of being able to hide little caches around the game world - it would fit in perfectly with the existing gameplay. You've got some awesome suggestions here - burying things and hiding them in vents, being able to secure locations by repairing security measures... All of this sounds great.

I like this idea, but it might better if you can pick where you want to hide, like say your in a city you can pick the building and pick the spot to hide for example

I want to hide a med kit in a office building in a vet.

But still this idea is still pretty awesome on its own
