a comment and a question or two

A comment: Seriously awesome game. I'm looking forward to the final product. Is there an estimated release date?A question: I have the tendency to die, usually within the first day, usually at the hands of a bandit with a rifle or a looter with fists that are apparently much harder than mine. How do I keep that from happening? So far, the only thing I could figure out is to pick athletic and run away from everything.

Welcome young scavenger! Im happy to hear that you like the game and if you have any problems with it, feel free to ask any questions on here: bluebottlegames.com/main/node/73 we will not loot your body until AFTER youre dead... that is usually higher level looters have guns and stuff, but dont worry about th.. QUICK GET HIM! ... what do you mean out of bullets? stall him? ... well allright! ... eeerm... yes where were I? Oh yes and we also got a an awesome (WIP) Wiki wich gets more and more information in it everyday: http://neoscavenger.wikia.com/wiki/Neo_Scavenger_WikiAnd if you are more of the history type (those are the ones that usually dont need to sell themself to Big Bob for ammo and food) we also got that: http://bluebottlegames.com/main/forum/8 so good luck and WHERE IS MY BACKUP?

You are on the right track with athletic as a trait, but many other trait combos can be successful with experience and planning. The first few days are definitely the hardest.  Without some luck, it is very easy to die the first time you encounter another scavenger. I would recommend always getting medic, athletic, and hiding as skills when you are new to the game.  Medic will give you access to a nanorobot medical kit in the first encounter, athletic will help you run away, and hiding will help you, well, hide (there is a sneak option on the hex map with this skill). The motto of your first days in the game may need to be "He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day." Avoid any encounters by running across open terrain (less movement cost) and into hills or forests where the enemy cannot locate you as well. Also, when you scavenge, make sure you have movement points left over to run away if you attract attention.  Many times it is better to just end turn before you scavenge so you have movement to work with.

If you're looking for a set of skills to enhance survivability of new players, I'd recommend Night Vision as well.  Some few of the regulars here feel it's a pretty overpowered skill as it gives a bit of useful kit in the initial encounter as well as gives bonuses to pretty much everything when you scavenge.
