Steam saves keep deleting

I'm having a lot of trouble saving my games. I'm playing through Steam. I'm using v0.980b.

Brief description:

The first time this happened I thought it was just my fault. The next time my save was wiped I knew this had to be something other than user error. Now, anytime I save, I close Neo Scavenger and then open it again and load the game to check that it saved. Then I save again, close Neo Scavenger, and go to bed. Several hours later, I try to load my save and it's always gone. It has happened several times.

It is most likely due to your browser, some plug-in or antivirus being set to delete all the "cookies" once you restart your computer.

Thanks, I guess I'll be manually backing up my saves. Can you give me a less vague idea of the address for steam saves? I've read that post, but it's not making any sense to me.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the save at "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\RANDOMSTRING\localhost\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\STEAM\steamapps\common\NEO Scavenger\NEOScavenger.exe"

Just wanted to pop by quickly and say thanks for helping DreadedEntity, Kaaven! And I apologize for the save file system, Dread. Flash has a peculiar way of storing data on users' machines, for security reasons, and it's one of the reasons I'm pretty sure my next game will be using a different language. Cookie-removal has caused no end of headaches for users just like you.

Ok, back to the madness that is holidays with the family--I mean, it's so relaxing here :)

Which files do I backup (from the string Dread provided) in case I want to clear my cookie cache via browser? I didn't know that clearing my cookie cache would delete everything, and unfortunately happened to me as well.

There are some programs used for cleaning the computer allow you to choose what files to delete. But in case you are using simple browser all-out clean, back up file called "nsSGv1.sol". That is the save.

I've been having the same issue with the saves deleting and I can't for the life of me find the save location. I don't have the apps file in my username. Any help would be great, i'm running windows 7 firefox and steam.

I'm not sure what your problem is. I didn't have any trouble locating my Steam saves.
If you want to throw me a Steam invite I'll walk you through it. My Steam ID is the same: Caerold

I found it; what a p.i.t.a. my god! had to unhide folders in control panel appearance and personalization, then go into appdata, and it ended up being in C:\Users\username\appdata\roaming\macromedia\flash player\shared objects\STRING OF RANDOM LETTERS\NEO Scavenger\Neo Scavenger.exe\

the worst part of it all is that despite finding this and finally feeling secure in knowing that my hours of gameplay wont just disappear the second i leave for work..i almost just don't want to play anymore lol. what a day. tomorrow perhaps.

I apologize for the unwieldy save system. It's one of the big reasons I'm hoping to depart from Flash/AS3 in future games. The file access is really limited, and SharedObjects are too unstable (cookie cleaners, hard to find, etc.).

Hopefully, I can have a more reasonable system in future games!
