charge in crafting table

Is it just me or does charges in crafting table absolutely useless? When I'm going around with my laptop, spare battery, thermogenerator and creepy metal doll, I always seem to lag opening crafting window woth so many charges about.
Do you guys know if you can start a fire or somethi g with them at all?

Side question- anbody else think that hexes with 'nighttime light' should have some means of extracting electricity? If you had electrician perk or something...

It was once possible to boil water with charges, but now they're indeed useless. But filtering them out needs time to code and there's only one dev, who is very busy.

I think there are more than enough charges near DMC.

Very true. Maybe one day in the future xD always impressed with his work

I think you are missing the point of there even being charges added to the game. Charges are like ammunition. They only have one purpose. Bullets are to be fired from a gun. Electrical charges power the device that they are within. There wouldn't be any point to them being used in the crafting table. Charges are tangible but cannot exactly be transferred by hand. Also, I think that they are transferred using some type of thermodynamics.

I hopes this helps the problem you are having.

? evidently, they did have other purposes; charges could be used to create boiled water. And, To point out, you can make noise trap and fire with ammunition. There were other uses for those items. I'm bit confused by your explanation 'Charges are tangible but cannot exactly be transferred by hand. Also, I think that they are transferred using some type of thermodynamics.' (sorry, not a native english speaker). All I was asking for was reasoning for redundant items in crafting table, as I thought that could be one of the factors in lagging my game down. Inventory access and crafting table access were taking considerably longer time with all those charges messing about (And about 2000 worth of pills rolling about).

Charges were used in crafting at one point, as was said already, to boil water. It is not the case anymore. However, since Dan is still actively developing the game, there are obviously some parts of the UI that are not really finished. Crafting screen is one of such places - it was already said that it will get some make over sometimes in the future. So for now we have to endure the pesky little charges cluttering our crafting junk pile.

You can use pills to craft noise traps.

I think a kind of obvious use for charges later on would be for metal working and welding bits of metal together to make other items

That would be an interesting crafting mechanic. I'm not sure what you'd craft with it, but the ability to stick weld using the DMC power tap, some gloves, and a few metal items seems plausible and neat. Might make more sense to use the power tap itself as an input than individual charges.

Yeah, I can't see you doing that with a AA battery charge barely sufficient to light a flashlight.
With the DMC taps though... hmm. Maybe Electrician can actually be useful?

I'm glad I stumbled across this thread! Originally, I heard a few people say that the electric charges were cluttering the crafting screen, but I didn't think they were that big a deal. I was usually able to just ignore and work around them easily.

However, I didn't consider cases where there are many stacks of charges clogging up the cpu during item sorting. And combined with recent reports of the crafting UI freezing and crashing the game, it sounds like this might be one culprit!

Let me see if I can filter them out. I might create an item property called "ignore in crafting" so those items aren't listed. I don't currently have plans to use charges as ingredients in recipes, but if I ever do, I can just remove that property from them. (Ditto for any other items that need filtering.)

Thanks for the feedback, guys!
