New Vehicle

Okay, I've already suggested this item but that was before I knew the shopping cart was a vehicle.  Perhaps we could include a travois (a stick frame with a fabric or hide sling that is pulled behind a person (or often a dog) in order to help carry extra supplies).  It could (rarely) be found, but could be crafted.  The crafting recipe might be something like: 8 branchs + 12 bits of string + 8 plastic bags + multitool = Travois + multitool or: 8 branches + 12 bits of string + 20 squirrel pelts + multitool = travois + multitool.  It should be a little smaller capacity than a shopping cart (IMO), but big enough to lay, say, two backpacks out on.

I like the idea of crafting a vehicle.  It could require the mechanic skill?

This is a great idea, and I would love to see it in the game. Maybe it is a nice idea to give all types of players the ability to build one, but have the Mechanic skill increase the amount of stuff it can take, or increase its durability.Another idea would be, if you dont mind me adding some more vehicle ideas, is to have 'Road/Highway' tiles that sometimes contain derelict cars. These cars can be scavenged for 'normal' surplies, but also for spare parts by Mechanics and Electricians. With these new parts ( wheels, chassis, trunk, windows etc) different types of carts can be created. Imagine a little kart with a small trailer from spare parts and a lawnmower engine! Of course, with an engine you need fuel to move. Engine types can range from basic steam engines ( using water and charcoal made from wood), to combustion or even solar power.

Oh, that's nice; I can see it now: a hand cart pulled behind a scavenger that rolls along on tractor tires.  (And of course, the bits of wire, string, nuts and bolts scavenged from derelict vehicles... those things are a gold mine!  However, they might already be well scavenged by the time our scavengers discover them; we can't be the only ones who would realise that.)

First off I like this idea a lot. It uses stuff that is already in the game and takes the hit and miss out of finding a vehicle (Yes I like picking up everything) . I would replace the string with rags as I do not know of any use for them at this time. If you added push bike wheels to the game you could then upgrade your Travois to a pull cart. Have the bike wheels found in abandoned houses. Then add lawn mowers to the finds at houses. You would then start by making a Travois next you would add bike wheels to it and last (mechanic skill only) a lawnmower to make it in to a motorized small cart. You would end up being able to ride on it BUT it would be as rough as hell to ride on. Another new item (sorry dev) would be the mail cart/trolly. You find them sometime in old office building.   A vehicle wrecking yard could be the hex tile for vehicles. You would have every thing from the smallest motor bike to 18 wheelers and everything in between. You go looking there and most of the time you find some thing to help build a vehicle and very rarely find a working or fixable car. This way you would not spend lots of time looking every where in a vain hope of finding a vehicle. I have only ever found the shopping trolly 3 times in all the time (about 30 hours so far) I have been playing this. The fuel problem could be fixed two ways. 1 have a spot in or next to the city where you can buy fuel but it would be very costly. 2 Add alcohol to the game. You can use it as a fuel for for other things. One last thing add a spot in side the city where you can buy vehicles. The cost would have to be very high.

I'm already imagining myself swearing because I got the Feeble ability for a free slot, which makes me unable to haul the lawnmower engine I just found to my little workshop :)

I love the idea of the travois and the subsequent ideas to modify it farther.  I would only like to add that to move something like this with you it should decrease your movement points.
