My Character just surendered to a dying man!

There I was: I just left the Cryo-Facility and searched the first building I came along.
Promptly behind the next corner was a raider, waiting for his chance. He was unarmed and I had a knive, so I threatend him to leave me in peace. He would have none o it and tackled me head on.
We struggled for a few seconds and when we parted I was unharmed. He, on the other hand, bleed, cought up blood, had a crippled right arm, was in severe pain and demanded my surrender.

And I had no other OPTION but to surrender my life and all of my belongings to this man who was SO CLEARLY in a supperior position :-(

For real: quite a bit random, isn't it?

EDIT:

Thank you for your response! I did not know I was able to just do nothing. Next time that guy will get it. ;-P

Actually, choosing no option at all is always a valid option. You can simply choose to do nothing, as you often have to while recovering from being tackled or a multi-attack action anyway! In fact, that's probably why it was your only choice, right? You use the volley attack option and he demands surrender? Surrendering and accepting are "free actions" and can be done in any state, I believe.

You can always do nothing. To do nothing, chose no action, confirm nothing by pressing space. Best of luck.

I've never had that happen before -- I avoid volley like the plague, as self-stunning is not my idea of fun.
Good to know, though. I didn't realize doing nothing was an option.

You know, I wish there was an end combat option you could use when your opponent is unconscious.
I've sometimes felt compelled to kill otherwise defeated opponents so I could scavenge the hex.
It's a stretch, but if there's an option to do nothing, might it be reasonable to add a non-retreat end combat move?

I was unharmed. He, on the other hand, bleed, cought up blood, had a crippled right arm, was in severe pain and demanded my surrender.

Happens to me quite often. I think the AI needs a slight improvement.

Ran around with a clown mask before it was cool

Agreed. I commonly beat the tar out of a weak foe, only to have them demand my surrender. I'm typically inclined to let a foe live, until they pull that level of stupid. After that, I'm just raising the average IQ of the populace.

Well said. I behave much the same way.
I'm also generally happy to scare away looters and the like.
