Game freezing after launching

I can create my character, but as soon as I launch and get into the ship, the game starts to stutter so slowly that no actions are possible. Opening the console gives the following:

Hi! Seems like you may have named your character something that windows cant handle when trying to autosave.

Try making a new character with no instances of any of these characters < > : \" / \\ | ? *
