There's no way it takes 40 minutes to cook bacon.
NEO Scavenger BaconRequires:One gas fed stoveOne baconOne twigsOne branchOne lighterOne waterOne canTurn the gas stove on, then use a lighter to ignite the gas. Turn the flame down on low. Place a few twigs on the flame. Once the twigs light you will need to find a dead tree limb in the underbrush. Once the tree limb is alight you must locate your soup can. Simply find a can of soup and dump the soup out on the ground. Now that you have your can, fill it with water and position it carefully and sturdily amid the blaze quickly growing on your stove. Add bacon. Cook for 40 minutes, adding twigs and branches as necessary. Don't forget to turn the bacon over in the water once a bit more than halfway through this process. Once the bacon is done, place it on a nearby log to cool. Consume immediately.

40 minutes isn't strange for bacon - Assuming it's a lot of bacon. And let's face it, Bacon is good enough to eat in such large quantities. You know what NeoScavenger needs? Bacon. And Cheese.
It does if you cook a pound of it 3 strips at a time! Besides, I was solving game design problems while each batch cooked :)

I can only hope that one day, I'll be in a situation where I need to cook a full pound of bacon.
Working in a restaurant, you'll habitually be in situations where you need to cook more than a pound of bacon at a time. Using several parchment lined baking trays in a convection over keeps the process to right around 30 minutes.
Every time we cook bacon at my house we have to cook a pounds, minimum :P Of course, there's 6 of us... xD
