Steam ver. 1.15 on Manjaro Linux - Audio "hogging?" [SOLVED]
Hello, when playing Neo Scavenger everything runs fine with one issue - I am unable to play any audio outside of the game. However, if I begin playing some music or other audio source before launching the game client, the game's audio will be completely muted. When the outside audio stops playing, the game audio will resume and all other audio will be muted.
I have noticed that sites such as youtube will be stuck in an endless loading screen until Neo Scavenger is closed, upon which the video chosen will begin playing as though nothing is wrong.
I am really unfamiliar with pulse audio and have no idea how to even begin troubleshooting this. Could anyone help me out?
After some digging I discovered that no flash application was interacting with pulseaudio, and I presume this is what was causing my machine to get confused. Following instructions from https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/7248/flash-using-wrong-audio-output-with-pulseaudio fixed my issue.
That is to say (in case the link is dead in the future), I installed the "libflashsupport-pulse" package from AUR and after a reboot, I can now see the flash stream on pulse's input sink list. Audio now plays from anywhere and everywhere at the same time. Hurray!
