Crew Management Footage
Hey Folks! Still plugging away at the teaser footage. Today was mostly about crew management snippets.
The first shot was recording the operating expenses UI as crew members were added to ongoing costs. There were some layout issues I hadn't noticed before, which required me to adjust some of the vertical layout group settings. They're finally behaving now, though.
Next up was the crew hiring UI. I had this mostly done before, but I did some minor tweaking to make it more presentable. I also hand-selected some better crew examples, with more realistic-looking crew credentials. Some of my random crew were too young to have a career, or were non-skilled. So this took some trial and error.
Finally, the shot you see today is the crew meeting and discussing options. This UI required a bit of polish, plus I worked on "friendly names" for each status condition, instead of things like "DcBodyTemp01." That, plus priming the message log with interesting and relevant banter, took a bit of time to setup. But it finally worked out with some decent dialogue.
Tomorrow, I need to work on a completely custom shot. The last of two in the teaser. Time to dust off those art skills!
