No, hammer is in the rucksack… it's just gonna be bloody melee…
Wanderer of the Wasteland
Yes, Cat is a sadistic bastard too...
Fins, had a chuckle at your "We'll hunt down each and every one" shouted to two people, one of which can't even run away...
Well, naturally, he doesn't know how many are there, but yeah, it's in fact a kind of quote... I forgot from there... It's goes something "each and every one of ya!". If i'll recall where i heard it... Ah, yes, sure! Pulp fiction, you see. :D "Each and every one of ya, motherf#$kers", was it? Ah, no, not exactly, but close: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jomr9SAjcyw&feature=player_detailpage#t=251 :D
... our lifestyles, mores, institutions, patterns of interaction, values, and expectations are shaped by a cultural heritage that was formed in a time when carrying capacity exceeded the human load. (c) William R. Catton, Jr
Ah, I think you made the reference on purpose…
No, not on purpose per se; both in deleted content and now in remaining post also mentioning killing every one of them if they hurt Cat - both times it was kinda subconsious, not intended thing; the analogy to Pulp Fiction situation only surfaced when you asked about it, was kinda surprise to myself when i gave it a second thought why i used those expressions. So i went and found the source, linked above.
Alright, i was just a few moments late with negotiations thing; so i removed it, and considering Nemo's last post - our damsel being in REAL need of help, ooRP talk, hehe, - i dropped one. 1st roll was 5, so i made it to a "shot which didn't happen, 'cause target moved", call me a cheater if you want... :D Second roll was 10. I'm satisfied. :D
sI guess it would be good now if Ghoul could act, and if Eric or Rob would join with voice threats, may be even Eric could have one more rage roll like he did with his pistol, and rush to the scene? Cat managed to wound them, plus Silent shot pretty much disabled one, and then i took one out. I guess other players need their share of the "pie", right? "First come first serve" still counts, though, i hope. :P
It seems to me two remaining hunters // one remaining hunter? is the one shot with a shotgun still functional? probably not? // - wounded and scared, would now try to play "we/i have a hostage" situation, trying to save their/his life, using Cat as a shield. Poor damsel indeed, i bet she'll hate being a meat shield, eh. =) If so, then still heroic opportunities for Eric, Ghoul, may be even Rob with his bow. Looking forward for what you'll make out of this, Nemo - in terms of what two/one? remaining hunter do and/or say.
Ok, Ghoul took one out, ninja-style. Quick and clean eh. If i get it right, all 3 are now down, dead or dying: one dropped by his fellow's shotgun provoked by Cat (what's his state, i wonder), one taken out by me (could be still alive if needed, if barely), and the third decapitated by Ghoul.
Short werk. Next time, bring a dozen? :D
I hope we can quickly patch the remaining guy up and leave me to do the "Interrogating".
In this twisted world, I found myself slowly vanishing.
Twisted World - A story from the Apocalypse
It's been a long time, but I'm back.
Just so you know, a little more detailed description on my character:
He's quite above average in height, almost 6.1 feet (About 185 cm)
He looks American, but he has a noticeable accent from speaking two different Asian languages (Korean and Japanese) With a bit of English sprinkled in from his father.
Maybe in the dark you would consider him to be from the East from his accent, otherwise if he keeps his mouth shut, people could easily mistake him for a regular American.
A detail description of the accent could be a little clingy to certain words, dragging the ends of sentences (and some words in between) out, an F could sound like a P and a V could sound like a B E.G. Defective = Depectib'/Festival = Pestibal
For example, if he were to say "Sun" he may pronounce it like "S'eohn".
Anyway, that's kinda it, can't give a better detailed description at the moment.
Going somewhat ahead: considering Nails' RP, he won't make a warm welcome for Ghoul at the camp. I expect Nails will stay in his cover, and question Ghoul when Ghoul will arrive to the group's camp, while looking at Ghoul through his scope. For all Nails knows, Ghoul is a part of the group which followed the beacon planted in one of Eric's devices. Cat's story won't be enough, considering Nails spelt his threat 1st, and Ghoul acted 2nd. And Silent's story won't be - simply won't be - because he is, well, silent.
I'm not sure how to solve this... But good RP demands to make Nails do it. May be Ghoul's answers will help? We'll see.
It looks good, I wonder how Nails would react when Ghoul says he IS from the group.
I'm guessing I should call you out instead, would make dialog go through quicker.
I am currently assuming Nails heard conversation between Cat and head hunter, so right now we wait for Cat to talk to Ghoul, and i suppose Nails will hear it too. It can help somewhat, for sure. Plus, Nemo might want to make some adjustments about head hunters state. I think, we should wait for Nemo, right now.
Other than (after?) that - sure, feel free to talk to Nails; Ghoul supposedly doesn't know his name yet, but he heard Nails' threat, so he can talk back if he wants to.
Done and done! Feel free to talk when you're ready.
And as I said, I'd love to be the one to interrogate him. I got some nasty plans in mind for him.
I love your subtlety… It's almost like a Hannibal moment that "I won't bite thing". Brilliant! It's great that everyone in this group seems to share a similarly dark sense of humour, or if not that then at least playing style...
Sorry guys, had a tutor meeting to rush too, but Cat is back… and yeah, I did just that, Cat's currently talking to Ghoul, seeing what she can get out of him, before letting him any closer. Possibly even with Nails having him in his crosshairs
Nails won't be able to spot a black-clothed figure in night forest; only if/when Ghoul will come out to the opening near camp, can Nails spot his dark figure, i think. Just FYI. :)
Well it's about time for me to hit the sack. Will see you tomorrow.
All the suspense!
I was planning on posting in RP but I was to late. }:|
Why, you still can. Cat is out there, alone with a stranger. Nails asked Rob to stay, but Nails does not command the group, and Rob is a grown - if wounded, - man. Granted, there are no NPCs left to kill - for now - but i think this doesn't mean that no good RP could be made at the time, if you _really_ want to have some fun.
IMHO, though. :)
Guys, you ready for some great loot?!
Not Nails. At the time, he plans to lie tight and hidden at his position until dawn, ask some questions to Ghoul. But i'm entirely fine of others will get all the goods.
Right now i'm not too sure on how to proceed...
I'm sorry y'all, I'm rather busy today, but will post towards the evening. As for Ghoul, I'd say the best way to proceed is with this awkward stand- off between Cat and him, and then eventually complying with Nails' request to sleep away from them. Then try and convince them of your qualities in the morning
See, Nemo, i was thinking the same thing - that awkward stand-off. Here's what i think, there are some things which might actually be useful for you.
Cat and the rest of the group should likely be very interested about - at this point, whole group heard enough from Ghoul to ask him:
- why Ghoul gives up his head hunting contract on Silent - what makes him change his mind about it? (the mere fact Ghoul tells aloud that he was sent to take Silent out - is enough to suggest he has changed his mind; why he'd mention it, otherwise, you know). And how can the group be sure he won't change his mind at some point and simply take Silent out and vanish into the night?
- how Ghoul&Co found out about Cat's group?
- did they know about Stout's task the group is doing, and if yes - how?
- and how exactly they tracked Cat's group?
Tracking devices are all there - on one of head hunters, - and Ghoul most likely knows what device was used to track Cat's group down. If he'll tell about it, then Eric will possibly be able to use the device to "see the signal", and then, separating his own devices, Eric would be able to see which one has the "beacon", and then either remove the beacon or get rid of the device. And i guess bot Cat and Eric are interested - if only for their own sake, - to get rid of the beacon in Eric's devices, eh.
Separation of RP: i believe, Ghoul can and should be allowed to RP things which his character did and decided, however it is GM's duty to RP NPC's actions, and the former can depend on the latter. In particular, only question #1 above is solely Ghoul's prerogative; #2 is better answered by the GM, since it had to be some NPC saying to Ghoul about Cat's group, and GM knows much more about how everything started than any other player; question #3 - same; question #4 - was done by one of head hunters iirc, RPd by the GM, and it probably be best if GM would define it.
Problem is, Nails - or possibly, someone else before him, perhaps Cat - is going to ask all those questions to _Ghoul_.
The ideal solution i see to this - is this: GM can put a post or few "into the past" - making post(s) in reply to old posts in the topic; for example, some post where Ghoul's group is instructed by some NPC way back on the 1st page of the inRP topic. There, events which hint at the answers to the questions above - can be described. Then, possibly with a pointer to those post(s) sent to us here in ooRP topic, others can RP their characters having a solid base - those "added to the past" GM post(s).
For example, question #2 can be neatly solved if Nemo would do a short post back in the 1st page of the inRP topic, in reply to some of events there, describing something like "Meanwhile, not far from _location_, _NPC-A_ had a meeting with a group of four capable head hunters, one of them being a large guy in black clothes, and wielding unusual weapon - a katana. The group took the contract to take out Silent, and was given _device-name_ to track Silent's group. Head hunters were promised large reward for Silent's head, and / but were told / not_told that Silent's group is being sent to do a job for Stout". See, something short, fixing actions done by NPCs, to create a solid base for Ghoul's RP. Among other possibilities, Ghoul then even could _lie_ to the group about things, if his RP includes it. In any case, Twisted would have much simpler time making definite answers without possibly conflicting with GM master plan. And imho this would be very good way to "embed" Ghoul into the story.
Nearly the same thing about questions #3, #4 and questions which other characters in the group might have to Ghoul.
However, this all is just thoughts. I never have been a GM in any solid RP, and it may be i'm doing some silly mistake in my thinking here. %)
It looks like a solid plan however.
Twisted, Ghoul said (inRP): "He was inside the camp now, dangerously close". Which camp is that - "our" or head hunters' one?
Nemo, if Twisted meant "our" camp - do you want Nails to ask those questions to Ghoul then? Do you want those questions asked, at all, too?
For the camp, whichever one Nemo was in.
I think he should ask questions but for some of the story-sensitive ones should be given to Nemo. Or Nemo could pm me for those parts.
Maybe as a solution the group Ghoul was traveling with was associates to a rival of hatter or even mr. Stoat and wanted to interfere in whatever they were up to.
It seems quite plausible, and at the moment I'm just throwing out a couple ideas.
Actually, as to who hired him, that's already solved. Ghoul may legitimately not know who the others were hired by, especially given their racist contempt for him earlier… He's in it because of the opportunity that presented itself after chatting to a guard and maybe overhearing something in the Junk market. I much rather let speculations run this then spell it all out, if that's ok. I'd also say, as long as things have to do with Ghoul's motives, he should be the one answering. As to other things, I mean, it's very natural to get annoyed at a barrage of questions, so he just wouldn't answer them… or as above, he simply wouldn't know the answer.
Hope that clears things up a bit. Again, it0s just that I prefer free flow to scripting everything very tightly, and you guys all are very good in adapting, with only very few posts needing editing…
Hope that's all cool.
Nemo, i still do not have definite answers to questions i asked in my previous post in this here topic. As such, i'll wait more (not saying i "should" get 'em answers, - but i still hope for them). Nails can always shift asking questions till dawn, and seeing as 1st question is now pretty much answered by recent inRP Ghoul's speech, may be others will also be answered "without being asked".
So for now, Nails and i are waiting. %)
Yeah, great… I mean that's probably how these things go. Anyways, I feel that come dawn, we will continue walking, with Ghoul by us, asking further questions and maybe not get any answers. At least the feeling of 'us' v 'him' will distract us from the fact that we may still have a traitor among us.
Also, still got to divide the loot in the no man's land.
I'm really getting a Khrone/Tzeentch/Slaanesh vibe from those "Voices in your head" thing, to be honest.
I honestly don't get these references.
I somewhat like the voices… Just make sure you don't make your character too transparent. As in, if you ere for example to come up with a plan to kill us all which you discussed in your head, then it will become very hard for us, not to use that knowledge. Hope that's ok. I mean again, I liked them like this, it's just a pointer, as otherwise there might suddenly be a huge gap between the mystery that is Ghoul to the other characters and the familiarity with him and the players…
Just assume that all the voices merge together to create "Ghoul"
And the real "Ghoul" is the balance between them all, and has a role akin to a parent controlling children. Allowing one to get loose and run off to do whatever it pleases.
The true "Ghoul" is the omnipotent being to put it in other words.
Just woke up. Eating. Next ~24 hours, i won't be RPing. There is the racing weekend in War Thunder - http://warthunder.com/en/news/890-The-War-Thunder-Air-Racing-Weekend-en . I was 10+ hours late to start participating, and yet, i went to sleep being 19th in the realistic tier 3 leaderboard. Now i want to push into top 10. Not for reward or recognition (though neither would hurt of course), - but because i love racing and i love flying, and this is both.
Wish me luck. :)
Good luck! I've been very busy, but I'll definitely have a post to add "today" (kind of an arbitrary distinction across time zones), before I go to sleep.
actually, too sleepy now
so sorry :(
Guys, what's happening?
The posts are dropping off… I hope now that the week has started again, that we'll get about a post per person per day ideally.
I want to move out of Mutha territory and into some sheltered place ideally by the weekend. I could accelerate the action a bit, but I feel we should have a bit more personal history involved. Ghoul could for example be asked what he has heard about Silent, so we have a bit more of his background.
Currently, we are just about to set off further, and we're about a day (in game) away from where I want us to end up for the next stage.
Well, i had that racing weekend, and then i had lots of sleep after it. Didn't see final standing, fell asleep after 20+ hours of being awake. Made it to 7th place, one guy said i was pushed by him to 8th by the end of the event - still, a total success, i've reached my goal and then some. Was a blast, actually. Last few dozens races, i was improving my time many times by mere fractions of a second, ended with the best time being 6 minutes, 5 seconds, 317 milliseconds.
Of course, track time was not the criteria, but i just had fun improving it. Official leaderboard was based on amount of in-game cash earned by racing. The competition had dozens of thousands players participating, so 8th place is kinda cool. All racers in top-100 got the "Top racer" title in-game after this weekend's one-time racing event, which also shows the scale of this competition. It was world-wide, with players from Europe, both Americas and Eurasia participating.
Apparently, i am indeed one of best virtual WW2 plane pilots in the world. Nice feeling. :)
Made a post inRP several minutes ago. Seeing other people expressing characters' thoughts in italic, did so too, and will be doing it from now on.
Hey, no worries, just didn't want things to trail off… Congrats on the War Thunder Racing man!
From now on I'm gonna try and keep Robs thought to himself and maybe show them in his physical expression instead of just saying them. Hope it works :)
I hope that isn't because of my comment?
I liked your mind scan though.
TW, I liked what you did there, just how exactly can we scratch your backs? I mean, I have something glorious in mind, but what did you think?
Just in case you somehow missed it till now, Nemo - it's a known and established figurative talk expression; see http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/You+scratch+my+back+and+I%27ll+scratch+yours . But i guess you knew that, and i guess you meant something else.
Nahh, let's literally scratch his back.
Pulls out box of nails
Sorry for not being much active lately, i really got into that racing thing in War Thunder. Please tell if you need me do something inRP. Today, finally, the official leaderboard for realistic racing - top 500 racers - was posted (the 2nd one is for arcade mode, posted a bit later, which is entirely different mode of competition). As expected, i'm holding 8th place in it - http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/182020-the-war-thunder-air-racing-weekend/?p=3519533 . 110 races done, 103 wins (and, 3 of those 7 losses were due to bugs with respawn during a race). Bragging rights! :D /flex
Sorry TW, post 145, Cat introduces herself. Could you edit your post?
Also, from before, one of the others was whimpering on the floor, so yeah, definitely still alive
Not knowing whether or not Eric will find a bug in his equipment, I'm not sure how to write my next post. I was going to have him check at the end of the post, trailing into Nemo's next, which would determine whether or not his equipment was bugged.
