Very bad lag in late game.

Using download version on windows 7. Flash up to date.

I've been alive and scavenging for a little over six months (in game time) and I'd say I've discovered about 1/4 of the map. Haven't progressed in the story since I left Gyges. However, now when I end a turn or get involved in an encounter, It now takes about 10 seconds for the next screen to load, whereas it was almost instantaneous before. I assume that the reason it's lagging is because there are now more hexes for the program to keep track of, however if it keeps degrading at this rate, in less than a week, it's going to be borderline unplayable, as I'll be waiting over a minute between each turn. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is it because you're not intended to survive forever because you're expected to just complete the story?

Any/All Help would be appreciated.

I apologize for the increased lag. If I had to guess, it's as you suspect: the game is tracking more and more stuff each turn. More than in a typical game duration.

It might be temporary, though, depending on the specific cause. E.g. if something caused lots of melonheads to spawn, you could be bogged-down waiting for that pack to move each turn. Similarly, if you (or other AI) produced a large number of items, they may be updating/degrading each turn.

In both of which cases, the eventual death/destruction of the items might remove the lag. And based on some accounts of players living much longer than 6 months (and/or exploring more of the map) without unplayable lag, maybe that's the case.

If you wanted, you could send me the save file and I could take a look. I'm not certain I can fix it, but it might help to know more.

And eventually, I'd like to replace the Flash version of the game on desktop with the Haxe version I used on mobile. In theory, it should be more cpu/gpu efficient, and run faster. It's on hold for now, though, as the dev working on it has become unavailable. I'm hoping there's a way to wrap-up and release their efforts somehow in the near future.
