Android Licence Issue.

Hiya, just discovered this game, and bought the game on my tab via Google play, however when I downloaded it to my phone, the one on my phone is stuck on the trial version, i click buy full game and it says error, I already own that. Now the one on my tab is unlocked, but the phone version is locked on trial.

How can I fix this thanks :)

Also I noticed that the android version (compared to the apple version) seems more squished, like apple has a better view and the one on my tab is squished for a phone format.

Hi Luca Natoli,

You are correct that the game should be unlocked on both of your Android devices. Normally, the game should recognize your previous purchase, and just unlock automatically.

There are a few things we can try, but it's usually best to first verify Google Play sees the order normally. The rest of these steps won't make a difference if the order is missing from the "History" page.

On the device without the full version, if you open Play Store, tap the menu (three horizontal lines near "Google Play" search field), then scroll down to "Account" and tap that, there should be a section called "Order History."

If you don't see NEO Scavenger on that list, you'll have to log out of Play Store and log back in with the account that made the purchase.

If NEO Scavenger does appear in the order history (which sounds like it might be the case, given the error you mention), try performing the following steps (in this order):

1 - Verify that your wifi is enabled, and that you have internet access.
2 - Force-stop NEO Scavenger in your device's settings->manage apps.
3 - Shut down your device, then restart it.
4 - Launch NEO Scavenger.

Sometimes this is all that is required. But if you still see the "Full Version" button on the title screen, try tapping "Full Version." This should force the app to try and re-authorize on your device.

If that doesn't work, there may be a more serious issue. And it might just be simpler for me to issue you a refund. You can then either re-purchase the game, or not. But we can cross that bridge when we get to it.

Regarding the squished view on one device vs. the other, I think you emailed me about this a while ago. I apologize for not replying yet, as I was out of the office last week, and returned this morning.

The two view styles you are seeing are the 4:3 and 16:9 UI layouts. When the game launches, it asks the device which screen resolution it has, and based on the reply, decides to use one UI or the other.

Right now, the test uses 4:3 if the device resolution is 1024x768 or 2048x1536, and uses 16:9 for all other screens. And in the 16:9 case, there will be black bars if the screen isn't exactly a 16:9 ratio. (Since stretching to fill that space would cause ugly aliasing in the pixel art).

Which Galaxy Tab do you have?

Thank you for the reply.
I cleared the game cache and forced stopped it as you mentioned. It is now unlocked on my phone too.

Can't beleive that is all that took to fix that lol. Thank you.

Yes i was deciding as to what version i wanted to purchase (obviously went with android for play on phone too). So i was yeah wondering about the views, as on apple store they had a tab version and phone version if i remember correctly.

I am running a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) for my tab and a S9 for my phone.

I completely understand about the stretch to fit thing, it would make it look ugly. Was just curious.

Glad to hear it unlocked! And yeah, the Galaxy Note 10.1 looks like it has a WXGA display (1280x800 or 16:10 ratio), so the game tries to use the closest aspect ratio it has (16:9). If it used the 4:3 mode, you'd either have black bars the sides with aliased pixels, or black bars on all four sides without aliasing.

There are probably better ways of handling various screen sizes with pixel art, but I was not that smart :)

The tab has a 2560 x 1600 pixels, 16:10 ratio screen. So not sure about that one.

No I only have 2 bars, one at the top which is kinda smallish and one at the bottom which is about hmm lets say 1 cm. So I can see it is trying to fit it i guess as the top black bar is quite small. 1/2 the size of the bottom bar.

Never the less, loving the game. Bloody hard as anything.
Will there be more updates later on, that actually doesn't bother me if there is not, as i just started and haven't experienced anything in the game yet (besides other enemies and death lol).

As for the ratio i do prefer this if it maintains it, so long as it doesn't stretch it and make it look like crap all good. So no overall I think you did well. Was just wondering as the apple version was easier to read too lol. All good.

Ah, my mistake. Looks like I referenced the old Note 10.1 spec sheet, not the 2014 version. The end result will be the same, though, as the game only uses 4:3 mode if the device reports a resolution of 1024x768 or 2048x1536. Since your 2560x1600 resolution is more widescreen, the game will prefer the 16:9 layout.

Regarding more updates, it's hard to say. I don't have any more immediately planned, but that door is never completely closed. Bug fixes and usability enhancements, in particular, are always an option.

More content, however, will probably be reserved for a new game. The current NEO Scavenger game is packed about as tightly as it can be in memory, so there's not a lot of room left for more on many devices. At least, not without building new systems to swap out old content for new content on the fly.

More likely, I'll design the sequel's new engine to be more efficient so it doesn't require as much asset-juggling.

All good. Yeah I can custom the screen so it is full screen now, if you saw through messenger :)

Awesome, a sequel sounds good.

Can I ask, when you fill up say the Whiskey bottle with water, it shows whisky colour. Is that by design (same with energy drink - green instead of blue). Also anytips on surviving longer? Game is brutal lol. Can you clean your wounds with water to in hopes of not catching an infection?

The bottle filled color is a limitation of the way the item system works. There is one image for full, and one image for empty, regardless of what item is inside. Making colors match the liquid would require something more sophisticated, and that was low priority.

As for survival tips, there are many! :) But some folks have already done a great job writing guides, so I'll direct you to them:
